Derived from a Mingrelian word that means "bright, brilliant, glittering, sparkling".In Georgian literature, Khvicha is the name of the protagonist of the novel Mamluk (1912) written by the Georgian author Kondrate Tatarishvili (1872-1929), who is better known under the pen name Uiaragho. A film based on the novel was released in 1958 under the same name.A notable real-life bearer of this name is the Georgian professional soccer player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (b. 2001).
