Khatia

Derived from the Georgian noun ხატი (khati) meaning "icon" (as in, a religious painting). For this particular context, compare names like Ikon and Ikonija.

This name can also be interpreted to mean "to be painted", due to the Georgian intransitive verb ხატია (khatia) meaning "to be painted". It would be a bit too literal a meaning, though: it would make slightly more sense if the name was intended to mean "as beautiful as a painting" in a more figurative sense.

In Georgian literature, Khatia is the name of the blind protagonist of the 1962 novel მე ვხედავ მზეს (Me vkhedav mzes) meaning "I See The Sun", which was written by the Georgian author Nodar Dumbadze (1928-1984). A film based on the book was released under the same title in 1966.
