This name was used in John Dos Passos' book The 42nd Parallel for a person who cheated on someone else's wife. I thought it was interesting because the wife's name was Annabelle, similar to "Anne" in the description. Not sure if that's a coincidence.
The Polish pronunciation is wrong - in Poland, Joachim is pronounced yaw-A-heem. The "h" sounds just like in hello.

The Spanish pronunciation wouldn't actually be "WA-keem" as another user said. It would be "ho-AH-keem," though said quickly (as words in Spanish usually are) it would sound almost identical.

My younger brothers' name is Joachim. My parents say it is Hebrew also and it means "the Lord will judge".
