Meaning & History
From the characters 华 (huá, meaning “flower”, “luxuriance”) and 胥 (xū, meaning “all, each and every”). In Chinese mythology this name is borne by the mother of Fuxi and Nüwa. According to one popular story, she found a giant footprint in the Leize (Storm Marsh) and put her own foot in it, whereupon she became pregnant with Fuxi. This is also the name of a small town in Shaanxi Province, China.
