3. usages AND description are verified
Gender Masculine
Pronounced Pron. /ˈɦɑi̯/  [key·simplify]
Other Forms FormsHaij, Haj, Hay

Meaning & History

Derivative of Hain. It is now primarily used as a short form for the related names Hendrik, Henri, Henricus and their variants.

This name is not to be confused with the Dutch and Limburgian greeting Hai! meaning "Hi!", though that is probably why the spelling Hay is most common these days.
