Soooo great and I can't see ANYONE despising this name. It's cute, handsome, and wonderful all at once! I just can't explain how great it is! And also Saint Gerard, pray for us!
Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844-1889) was an English poet and Jesuit priest. His "Windhover," "As Kingfishers Catch Fire," and "Carrion Comfort" are some of my favorite poems of all time.

Gerard Piqué Bernabéu is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for FC Barcelona and the Spain national team. A product of Barça's cantera, La Masia, Piqué initially left the club for Manchester United in 2004, where he remained for four years, before returning to Barça under Pep Guardiola's leadership, helping the club win trebles in 2008–09 and 2014–15. He is one of four players to have won the UEFA Champions League two years in a row with different teams, the others being Marcel Desailly, Paulo Sousa and Samuel Eto'o.
I love this name because my favorite singer, Gerard Way, (former leader of the rock band My Chemical Romance), has the name. Also, the name 'Gerard' makes me think of someone sweet and funny.
For some reason, this name gives me an impresssion of some older, offsetting and grouchy type of man. I just can't picture a Gerard fitting on some goofball, people person.

Very classic, very handsome. It is somewhat of a family name (that was used in past generations). I like it. Great as a middle name, too-- "Daniel Gerard" has a nice ring to it.

I really love this name, and I've never heard of Gerard Way. xD I just love how different it is.
Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué (born 2nd of February 1987) is a famous bearer. He currently plays for FCBarcelona and the national spanish football team as a center back.
I first heard of this name because of Gerard Way, but didn't really care for it at first. But it quickly grew on me, and it's now one of my favorite boy names. I think it sounds pretty, and at the same time masculine, and I adore the nickname Gee (but I can't stand the nickname Gerry)! I'm glad that this name did not have a huge boost in popularity caused by My Chemical Romance, and although I enjoy MCR as a band, I'm not a huge Gerard Way fan, and my liking of this name isn't because of him.
I didn't mind this name until Gerard Way came along and ruined it for me! (okay, maybe not. But I would never name my child this in fear of him being associated with Mr. Way).
I wouldn't know of this name without the lead singer of MCR, but I still hate it. I'm not a guy, but if I had that name, I would change it as soon as I could!
The first name of Gerard Pitts, who was more often called by his surname, a character from the movie "Dead Poets Society". He was played by James Waterston.
I love this name, mostly because it's a traditional male name in my family. I must say, all of the drooling fangirls of MCR are ruining the quality of this name. Nothing against MCR, their music is actually pretty good, but no matter what the lead singers name was, it'd be the same deal. They'd just like the name because it belonged to someone "hot". Pathetic.

I'm not a huge fan of Gerard Way but at least he didn't make Passion Of The Christ. Um, other than that pair, I guess it's an okay name, but kind of a lot of Rs. Although my full name is absolutely full of Rs so I'm one to talk.
Another famous bearer of this name would be Gerard Butler, an actor who played the leading parts in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera and Dracula 2000 and other parts in Reign of Fire, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, and many more films and television series.
Scottish actor Gerard James Butler prefers to have his name pronounced in his native (Scottish) dialect - Gerrerrd - or to be called Gerry. www.gerardbutler.net.
