A known bearer of this name was the Austrian tenor singer Johann Evangelist Haydn (1743-1805), who was the younger brother of the composers Joseph (1732-1809) and Michael Haydn (1737-1806).In literature, Evangelist is the name of a religious character in the novel The Pilgrim's Progress (1678) written by John Bunyan (1628-1688).
