Dot is the adorable little girl ant from Disney & Pixar’s A Bugs Life :)It’s sad how many negative comments there are for this name. Dot is adorable, innocent and unproblematic.
I love Dot as a nickname, it’s adorable. Makes me think of a “Dippin Dot”. (Singular of Dippin Dots Ice Cream). Better than Dottie I think which means “off her rocker”.
Dorothy "Dot" Lemon (1907–1986) was a 20th century aviator whose career ranged from barnstorming in the 1920s to becoming the first woman president of the Institute of Navigation in the 1960s.
Dot is the name of one of the two titular characters in the book Dot and Tot of Merryland by L. Frank Baum. In her case it's an affectionate nickname; her real name is Evangeline.
This just sounds silly as a name, I can't even imagine it on a person.

I always thought this was different in a nice way. Since every Dot I've met has been older, it's always nice to come across it in a sea of Marys and Cathies. It stands out.
LOL! I looked up Daddy and I found Dot and I can't stop laughing! A dog's name. Your kids would be made fun of if you named them this. Sorry. DOT! LOL LOL LOL.

If dot means the same thing as period then this name is just disgusting.

Too simplistic. I can't imagine this as a legal name. But I have some fondness for it because of the character from Animaniacs.
Famous bearer: the Dot! hehe (a dot is also known as a period)

In Stephen Sondheim's play, Sunday in the Park with George, Dot (played by Bernadette Peters) is the lover of George. She is the woman who appears in the front of the painting the play was based on, A Sunday Afternoon on La Grande Jette by George Seraut. She marries Louis the baker while pregnant with George's child. As far as I know, the actual woman in that painting bore no similarity to the character Dot.
