The blandest name imaginable, when you say it it feels like chewing on burlap. The pronunciation sucks, it rhymes with bean, and mean, and is the boringest name possible.
To people saying that this name is unattractive or you can't imagine an attractive person with this name, Dean Winchester exists and in my opinion, he's hot as hell, and the name Dean most definitely suits him. I also think that the name Dean is an attractive name and that it's strong, and definitely a bad boy type name, which makes me like the name even more. Parents, definitely consider naming your son Dean or at least using it as a middle name if it seems a bit too short for you. Also, I named one of my guinea pigs Dean...yes it's after Dean Winchester.
This name sounds unattractive to me. The James Dean association makes it a little bit better though. He was a good actor, but sadly died way too young.

Dean Ween is the stage name of Mickey Melchiondo, lead guitarist of the band Ween. And he really rocks!

Well, there's no doubt it's a handsome, masculine name. Though, I wouldn't use it. James Dean and Dean Cain come to mind upon hearing it. Both are hunks, haha!
I never really liked this name (or even thought about it, for that matter) until I started watching the television show "Supernatural." One of the main protagonists of the show is Dean Winchester, who is played by actor Jensen Ackles. He is probably the hottest man I have ever seen.
Hurricane Dean was the strongest tropical cyclone of the 2007 Atlantic hurricane season. It was the most intense North Atlantic hurricane since Hurricane Wilma of 2005, tying for seventh overall. Additionally, it made the third most intense Atlantic hurricane landfall.
Dean is a name I absolutely plan to use for a second son. I love the simplicity and practicality of it. There is such a 'coolness factor' that comes with the name when I do hear it, which is not often. Two positive associations: Dean Winchester and Dean Winters :D.
American actor, Dean Winters. He is best known for his roles such as in OZ, BattleCreek and the numerous of Allstate Mayhem commercials. Such a handsome man and I love his voice whenever he speaks. *Swoons* (:
I like this name and if you like\love it as well and are considering using it for your little guy, some combos I have paired with it that you are more than welcome to take a look at are: Dean Emerson Dean Isaac Dean Lucas Dean Miles Dean Parker Dean Sawyer Dean Thomas Dean Everett Jeremiah Dean.

Dean McCoppin is a character from the 1999 movie, "The Iron Giant".

I like the sound "deen" and I like short names and "word" names too, but I don't like it as a name because of the word Dean. For me it would be like being called Boss or Director, not exactly a bad thing, but not cool either.
I love this name and have every intention of naming my first son Dean. It is strong and masculine but I feel it will allow my son to grow to be a well rounded young man.
I like this name. It seems short and sweet, very fresh and simple sounding, yet strong. In my opinion, it ages well. I can imagine it on a child and it seems to fit adults as well.
Dean Stockwell is an amazing actor who played Al in "Quantum Leap", Edmund Tyrone in "Long Day's Journey Into Night", and Judd Steiner in "Compulsion". He's also the Boy with the Green Hair! How could anybody have forgotten about him?

For some reason, this name sounds very juvenile to me. I can't figure out if that's a good or a bad thing.
The male form of my name. I don't like it. The pop author Dean Koontz churns out a new Walmart book rack novel every other month it seems. I haven't read any of his uninspired writing nor do I plan to, but he is reason enough to avoid this name. That, and it's another word for a principal.
I always think of Dean Winchester from Supernatural or Dean Venture from the Venture Bros. It's a simple name, like John, which draws more attention to a strong last name. I think a good last name would be necessary. It's very masculine and tough-sounding, though. It also seems intellectual, like when you think of a College Dean.

Perhaps those who find Dean a non intellectual name are forgetting about former Secretary of State Dean Atichison. Also from the sports world famous College coach Dean Smith.

Whenever I hear the name Dean, the first person I think of is Dean Venture from 'The Venture Brothers'. Then I think of James Dean. Either way, this name is pretty good.
It always reminds me of the B52's song "Is That You Mo-Dean?" which tells a story about a man who was abducted by aliens, and returned 987 years later, and he couldn't find any of his friends to tell his interesting stories to. It was my favorite song when I was little.
I really love this name. It's very strong and masculine.

I know of a 6 year old boy with this name, people often comment to the mom how much they like his name, it is very manly sounding and a name he could grow up with.
