Daan is also used as a feminine name in Dutch, as a short form of Daniëlle and Danique. However, Daan is more common for males. So, I think that the "Gender" of this name should be changed from "Masculine" to "Masculine & Feminine", and the " Meaning & History" section of this name should be changed to read, "Short form of Daniël, Daniëlle, or Danique".Sources: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unisex_name https://forebears.io/x/forenames/daan
Daan is STILL in the Top 10 in the Netherlands, it has been all my life. It surprises me quite a bit, I'd expect people would start not using this name as much upon seeing how popular it is.
This name is very popular in the Netherlands right now. I know about 10 Daans and all of them are under 20. I wouldn't use it myself because of this and also because I would use Daniël as the full name but I do like the name. It's short and strong and I get why so many people use it.
