We named our youngest daughter CLARIDY RAYNE... She was, let's say... an unexpected surprise lol.. Couldn't decide on a name for months. We already had 2 girls. Janelle and Jaidyn as well as a little boy Christopher Jr.. So one morning we get up and my boyfriend says I know the baby's name. I had a dream last night that her name was CLARITY. And so I changed the spelling a little to make it special just for her. Me and the kids added RAYNE as the middle name. And she is now 10 yrs old and loves that she has never met anyone with her same name.
I have mixed feelings about Clarity as a name. I think it's really pretty and a good alternative to Claire or Clara, but it's also the type of name that could skyrocket to sudden popularity if a celebrity or tv/movie introduces the name to the wider world. And female names that skyrocket to sudden popularity usually become objects of scorn in equal measure. See Whitney, Reese, Dakota, Scarlett, Addison, Arya, etc.

It sounds okay I guess, but I would use Clara, Claire, or Clarice.
Okay, it IS better than Charity, and it certainly beats the hideous Chastity, but the name is still quite weird. There might be quite a few jokes about the girl, especially if she isn't considered very intelligent. I don't really like these -ity names at all.
I love this name because of its originality. In my eyes, the name sounds like the delicate caroling of young children, or the metal vibration of a glockenspiel, or the baronial cadency of a harp being strung by finespun fingers!
