Not nice how it sounds or how it’s written (other variations of the spelling are even more awful). Why do people name their kids like this?
This is such a nice name sounds like flowers and calm.
Chloe has never stood out to me, just sounds like another word or sound. I have never understood the appeal, but I guess there's nothing particularly wrong with it. It's an okay name.
All of the three Chloes I know in person are theatre kids. Therefore, by simple inductive reasoning, all people named Chloe are theatre kids.
I would call that conjecture.
This has always been one of my favorite names. So sweet and feminine.
Fantastic girl name, and it fits very well in many different languages.
So modern and cool. Means greenery, nice. It's such a common name, which is a good thing. The popularity of this names proves more people like it than dislike it. The pronunciation is pretty and simple. It's just a name after all.
Sounds like a name a naive and overprotective, upper middle class perhaps single mother would name her daughter. She'll feed her only organic food and not allow her to watch television, and assume all children are like that. She will have her daughter wear nothing but loose-fitting ruffly pinafores. She will homeschool her or enroll in some very small private school. And when her daughter even shows interest in wearing nail polish, she will have a meltdown, crying and wondering what she did wrong. Same for Zoe.
I don't really like this name at all, but that may be because it sounds super girly to me. I don't like girly things and for some reason, this name feels like one of the girliest names I know.
This name always reminds me of a sheep, maybe because it rhymes with Snowy, like a fleece description.
Cheery, but I associate it with kids. Can't see an adult with this name without it being funny.
Like Clo for a nickname.
Chloe...Good for a 3 year old?
Absolutely cute and adorable! Anyone with this name I will adore.
I really enjoy this name. It’s a very common name in my generation, but I still love how it sounds. Chloe is a gem of a name in my mind.
My name. I used to have a love hate relationship with it. Now that I go by a different name, I don't mind it as much. It's an alright name, just not for me.
It's cute and all, but it's kinda bland, at least it's better then Zoey!
Not a fan actually, reminds me of chlorine.
Very nice, although I wouldn't use it.
I think that Chloe sounds not at ALL childish. For the people named Chloe, you are amazing and never let haters bring you down like a boomerang. Chloe is the best name ever I feel sorry for the haters saying all the bad things about Chloe. Because joke's on them, Chloe is a cool and awesome name! If your name is Chloe you go bestie, don't let those haters get their way! Cause I'm gonna come back like a boomerang!
A lovely name. It makes me think of wild flowers.
My name is Chloe and I think it's a really pretty and beautiful name but it's just way too feminine for me. But my mom's other options for naming me were Sylvia and Penelope so I guess I got lucky. Eventually when I'm an adult I want to change my name since I don't like how it sounds on me but I'm not even sure what I'd change it to tbh.
I’ve read people who hate this name and having it as their name, I hated my own birth name and it wasn’t just the usual “ugh I hate my name” it’s sort of like I don’t even refer to myself by it online or in my brain I’ve always been “Pip” or “Pippy” and my parents were considering that name for me when I was born but turned it down and went with Abbey, yup Abbey, not even Abigail. Abbey is the name of like a church or something and when I google my name that’s what it comes up with which I find kinda annoying since my parents aren’t religious although I do believe in God. I asked my mum one day if I can change my name and she said yeah but she was just lying idk why she’d do that to me but yeah the second I’m old enough to, I’m going to legally be Pip. I introduce myself online as Pip not “Abbey”. It sucks when you hate your name and it sucks when it hurts to be called your name and the only nickname for my legal name is Abbs that’s literally all anyone shortens it too and I DESPISE being called Abbs it’s disgusting. My family’s nickname for me is Azzy and I don’t mind Azzy but it’s hard yknow.
My name is Chloe and I hate it. I am not a tom boy at all but I’m far from girly. I really dislike the name and want to change it. It sounds weird saying it and a lot of people have it and on a personal level it doesn’t suit me AT ALL. I don’t find it pretty, I’m a teen and think it’s childish, there’s no way I’m keeping it for when I’m an adult
If your name is Chloe I apologize.
It's an alright name, but it sounds a little dull.
I'm a transgender man, and this is the name I was born with. My opinion on it is clear.I DESPISE it.If you look in these comments, you'll notice not a lot of people who actually have this name like it. Especially if the person with the name is a man. It's feminine, bratty, and formal. Once at summer camp, a counselor saw my name and thought "oh, a girly girl", which made it very surprising for her. I've hated it since elementary school and going by a different name feels like freedom. Parents, do your children a favor and don't name them Chloe.
Pretty!
It's becoming way too popular even when it's not pretty.
The spelling isn’t very pretty and the sound is not pretty either. I prefer Cleo.
I think this is a gorgeous name with a lot of style.
There are LOTS of nicknames for this name: Coco
Clo-Jo
Co
Clo
Etc.This is my sister’s name and we call her ALL of those (even now that she’s older).
I had a cat named Chloe Penelope (Yes we gave her a middle name cause my mom and I couldn’t agree lol). I think Chloe is a pretty nice girl and feminine name.
Chloe is a sweet and quiet name, but don't cross her. She's tough on the inside.
Love this name, it's very pretty.
I think it is pretty but I don't like the way it looks, and it reminds me of the Bratz doll named Chloe! I love the sound of the name though.
I don't like it. It is very childish and I can't imagine anyone over the age of 20 called Chloe.
Pretty and nice, I imagine a girly girl when I think of the name Chloe. I know around 4-5 girls with this name.
It’s okay but I prefer Cleo.
Chloe is a cute, feminine, name. It is common, but that’s okay. For those who say they hate the name because all the Chloes they met were brats, I understand why, but know that not every Chloe is mean. You shouldn’t automatically hate someone because all the other ones you’ve met with the same name were people you didn’t like. This doesn’t go to just Chloes. Anyways, for those named Chloe, don’t worry whether people hate your name or not. I think it’s lovely, and I bet many others do so as well :)
My name is Chloe. The main issue I have with my name is people spelling it Chole- I've never had anyone pronounce my name wrong but I don't like my name that much because I personally think it sounds a little childish.
A little bit ditzy but that is what makes it totally lovable!
Chloe is a pretty name. I think some nice nicknames would include:Chloe Brielle
Chloe Christina
Chloe Destiny
Chloe Elizabeth
Chloe Harper
Chloe Isabella
Chloe Jude
Chloe Marie
Chloe Nicole
Chloe Willow.
Childish but in a good way.
Sounds very childish to me.
Love this name so much! It is really beautiful and for a kind-hearted person. All Chloes I know are nice, though in general, I would recommend, if you are deciding on a name, choosing one because it makes you smile every time you say it (not because someone you don't like has the same name or any other reason like that). Names are something special, but no matter which one you decide on your child is going to be who they truly are inside!
One of the most boring names. Nothing much interesting about it. Just a boring name. Feels like some sound is missing and also looks strange. There are so many better names, like really.
It's a pretty and simple name.
Its an okay name, pretty forgettable.
This name is very pretty and isn't too overused, like Emma or Ava.
My best friend's name is Chloe and I think it's beautiful. Definitely recommend, it isn't too popular, not too dated, and works with almost any age.
My name is Chloe and I hate it, because when you think of the name Chloe you think of the popular girl in school, a Bratz doll, the Kardashians, or just a pretty and dumb girl, and that's basically the opposite of me, I'm one of the bad kids at my school, I have a egirl/tomboy style and when people see that my name is Chloe they're shocked "really wow that's so unfitting" thinking about going by my name that I was supposed to be named when they thought I was a boy, Jordan, which I like a lot more and it fits well!
I think that Chloe gives me wild and free vibes. Every Chloe I've met has had crazy curly hair, a super energetic personality and was really talented at sports. I think it's a cool name.
Love this name.
I like Khloe better. It is more unique and pretty.
I like the name Chloe. It is my name and it means unique so that is why it is a beautiful name.
I wish I lived in the country where this name is common (so I would be named that lol)!
I go for [KLOI]. Delicate, lightsome, aetherial.
I prefer the spelling Khloe. Chloe is too popular as Khloe is unique and special.
Not a fan at all! I know a few Chloes that have also turned me off to this name.
I've changed my mind, I like Chloe. It's pretty sounding actually.
It's not a bad name at all. It's way better than Cloe.
I like the meaning "green shoot" as green is my favorite color. However, I hate this name. Just my opinion though. Chloe isn't the worst name out there in my opinion, it's WAY better than Olga, Gertrude, and Garla.
I also think "Chloney" is a horrible name. Chloney or whatever, might struggle with people calling her Chloe her entire life. It is YOUR child though, so who am I to say what you name her? I just personally don't like Chloe or Chloney. If you like either of those names, feel free I guess.
I think Chloe’s a sweet name! I‘d spell it Kloi or Kloea though.
Somewhat common in my area, but that's okay. Chloe is a beautiful, simple, sweet, and charming name. I love it! :)
I will never for the love of god understand how people somehow don’t like Chloe but are obsessed with Zoe? They’re literally the same name. I don’t like either one though.
My name is Chloe Elizibeth and I love it and hate it, because it sounds so girly and sweet and pretty. Just telling you, I'm not womanly or delicate or nice at all, I'm a tomboy and messy, so it's not always girly. Variants like Khloe and Cohle suck. I saw someone name their daughter Cholney. Don't do that. Please. It's French and Greek and a good nickname is Clo-clo. People say it's common, but I've only seen one person named Chloe spelled like that.
My name is Chloe. It became really popular a few years after I was born, which sucks because my parents were trying to name me something unique. I used to not like it because of its popularity, but it's growing on me. Also, despite its popularity I actually don't know any other Chloes.I don't think it's overly feminine, which I like. Unfortunately the Kardashians have a lot to do with the "cheerleader-y" stereotypes surrounding the name. I do, however, think any variation spelled with a K looks pretty bad. Also, people CONSTANTLY misspell my name as Chole, for some reason. Even after I've spelled it out for them and pronounced it for them multiple times. Lol.
Whenever I hear it I think of chlorine.
Typical cheerleader name.
I change my mind about this name... it’s actually really pretty.
Anyway, my name is Chloe Elizabeth - Elizabeth after an aunt from my father's side. I've never had any issues with people pronouncing it wrong. And I rarely ever get misspellings of it, although it still happens. I go by Chloe most of the time. Sometimes I go by Chlo And Chloebelle though. It's for sure not a "cats and dogs name". Technically, any name could be a pets name sort of. And I noticed that almost all the Chloe haters were anonymous... are you all the Ashleighs, Jessicas, Brittanys, and Lindas?
This makes me think of Chloe from Miraculous Ladybug. Not a very good association.
Sounds like a name for a dog. I don’t like it at all.
When I hear this name, I think of a sweet, smart, and bright girl who's willing to help anyone in need, not a bratty dumb cheerleader or anything even close to that. I also think this name is kind of old-fashioned sounding (in a nice, lovely way) rather than trendy. Just as long as you don't use one of those trashy variants, Chloè and Chloë are lovely, but the other ones are just plain stupid. (yes, I'm talking to you Khloe, Kloe, Cloe, Kloe, Cloey, Cloie, Chloie, etc.).
Too trendy and immature for my taste.
Most common girls name for 90s born kids there was- so many Chloe's.
This is my name. I honestly really like it. I don't love it. It's still a nice name despite it being really popular, however I'm just glad that my name isn't in the top 10's on any charts unlike other names (Olivia, Emma, Evelyn, Ava, Isabella, Mia, ETC). Oh, by the way Chloebelle is also a cute underused nickname for Chloe!. :)
Y'all are so mean on this name! First of all I LOVE this name and I don't care what nobody says about this name. WHO CARES if you don't like it I'm going to use it for my baby twins Khloe and Chloe and that's period. Khloe is older than Chloe and they are proud of their names and every name in the world is beautiful. This name sounds very adorable and pretty like y'all are doing way too much, y'all cant get mad if somebody likes this name, IT'S THEIR OPINION, like come on now.
Hmm. Everyone's saying this name is so common and too... happy, but I only know one Chloe, and she's pretty awesome. I think Chloe is a great name! Chloë is nice, but any other variants just look trashy. Don't name a kid Khloe, or Kloey, or anything like that. Chole is a different name. It's Spanish and pronounced Cho - ley, typically used as a nickname for Soledad.
My name is also Chloe and personally I love it because first it has a lot of origin and back story but also because I think it sounds pretty.
My sister has been named Chloe. I think it's a delicate and sophisticated name. Sounds more French to me, but then again I'm Australian, but our family has French origins, so I'm not surprised about this.
I honestly hate my name- it’s so basic.
Chloe Valeria would be a good baby name.
Omg this is the worst name ever. It sounds like I have a lisp when I say it.
Absolutely hate being called Chloe. When I was younger and still now I get called CH-loe. Even as an eight year old I was shocked by the amount of adults who spelt it wrong. Clohe or chole. Even one of my high school boyfriends wrote my name as Chole. It is so common and yet it’s so misspelled all the time. When I was a little blonde kid it suited me but as I grow old it really doesn’t. I’m starting university soon and I’m most likely moving somewhere where no one knows me for it and I’m considering going by my middle name Rochelle.
My name is Chloe, and I hate my name. There are literally 3 Chloe's in my grade, 20 Chloe's in the entire school, and whenever I hear someone call out "Chloe" I always think that it's me even though it's not. Also, people always have to call me Chloe, followed by my last name. It's so annoying. I wish my parents gave me a more unique name instead.
This is a pretty name, it's a bit too common in my opinion, but it's short and sweet. Pretty sure this is the classic spelling of the name which naturally looks "correct" but the silent "h" is a bit weird, haha. For the longest time I would look at this name and pronounce it "cho-l".
My name is Chloé-Maria and I love it so much xx.
One of my best friends is named Cloee (pronounced just like Chloe, just spelled differently) and I think Chloe is way too common, but I like that her name is spelled a little differently. It's pretty though.
My granddaughter's name is Chloe & she is pretty, bright & fun. He nickname is Coco. I love the name!
Another way to spell Chloe is Chole. Another way is Clohe.
So sorry to all the Chloes out there but anything associated with the Kardashians is an absolute no go! Although I will admit if I met a few nice Chloes that might change my mind. I just don't know any.
Yo, my name is Chloe and I think it has a beautiful meaning.
My name is Chloe, and looking at my family's and friend's name origins. I feel old because mine is the only ancient name. (I'm not counting Mythology).
Chloe is a beautiful, sweet name. I know a girl called Chloe and she is friendly, sweet and pretty. I would definitely name my child this, along with Isabelle if I had twins. When I was younger, I named a sandy-haired, emerald-eyed doll Chloe. Most people think of Chloes as having light skin, blonde hair, light eyes and a serious face, but the Chloe I know has black hair, black eyes, coffee-coloured skin and a big grin. I really like the meaning of Chloe — 'green shoot' — because it reminds me of the first trace of spring after a long, cold winter. If your daughter was born in late February/ early March and you wanted to name her after the first trace of spring, instead of naming her Spring or Snowdrop, you could name her Chloe. And if it was twins, Chloe and Isabelle, obviously.
I have a little cousin called Chloe, and she is cute but I dislike how popular her name is, though it is a cute name.
My birth name was Chloe. When I was a teenager I ended up changing it because I hated it so much. I personally do not mind the name, but it really didn't suit me. My cousin (who was also named Chloe) has the exact same problem.
Chloe is a great name and I love it a lot. Some people hate it but I can’t see why because it’s beautiful.
I think Chloe is sort of white and fluffy sounding, like Jennifer.
This is the name of my dog, Chloe the Cockapoo :)
Elegant and beautiful.
A little ditzy, but that's what makes it totally lovable! :)
This name is cute, But! Agree it sounds like a cat. Sorry. Still good name. Not sure how it will age?
Perfect name for a cat. Chloe sounds extremely childish to me though.
Chloe is a cool name.
I love the name, but whenever I think of it, it reminds me of this awful mean cruel girl at a school I went to when I was little I love it but I would never use it as I always think of HER!
I hate this name. It's so trashy and childish.
I am totally in love with this name! It really speaks to me. It is very intriguing and it has something special about it. It's different and unique, despite it's popularity. I've never met any child or adult with this name. I'm going to name my daughter Chloe. To me, this is the best name I've ever heard.
My cockapoo's name is Chloe. It suits her perfectly!
Not my favorite name, mainly because the OH-ee sound is too cutesy and childish to my ears. It's not a bad name, otherwise, and I think it could suit many different types of girls and women, though it mainly fits those who are more feminine.
I think this name is really cute and "posh" sounding. It's quite common, especially with a "C" instead of a "K" (I prefer the former). Most Chloe's I've known in real life haven't been very good/nice people, but there are some pretty cool celebrities with this name.
I absolutely cannot stand this name, and that's coming from someone who is stuck with it. The popularity of the name, and people's perceptions of the name (Cutesy, preppy) only make me hate it more. I will be changing it in the future.
I love the name but prefer the spelling Khloey or Khloe as they are a lot less popular.
I used to LOVE this name! But now i`m not too keen on it, it's gotten too common over the last 5 years :(
I love the name Chloe as it is my name. Growing up as a child (in the late 80's), there were no other girls who had the name and many people couldn't pronounce it (strange, I know). As I grew up I learned to love my name as it was unique to me and I was named after my grandmother (Chlorine). Anyhow, nicknames I have are Coco (because I am classy and stylish), Clo Clo, Lo Lo and Clo.
I went to school with the most beautiful girl named Chloe. She was the only person I ever met with this name. I had a plan to name my future child Chloe until I saw that it is one of the most popular names out there right now. I don't like following trends. It's just funny to me that it is so popular. It must be a new thing because when I was in school there was one Chloe in the whole high school (that I knew of) and it was that gorgeous girl I speak of.
I really like the name Choe a lot more now than before! Sure, it's common, but it DOES have a nice sound to it. It's an awesome name. :D My friend who has this name is a very cool & friendly person to get to know! ^_^
Chloe is my name, and I never really liked it. My parents almost named me Victoria, which I would have preferred because I feel like more of a Tori than a Chloe. The shape of the word kind of annoys me, and it sounds like the name of a little girl at her third birthday party with curly pigtails. I usually go by my first name and middle name (Chloe Rose) because it sounds more mature.
I'm not much of a fan of this name, but I have nothing against it either. However, I really dislike the spelling. Three consonants at the start (though I also dislike the spelling Cloe), and the oe combination is also one I'm not fond of.
Don't listen to everyone who says girls named Chloe don't have personalities. That's ridiculous! You can't possibly generalize based on a name. I think Chloe is a bright, intelligent, colorful name that works no matter how old you are or what color your hair is (come on people)! Chloe for the win!
I used to hate this name but it started to grow on me. I have settled on my future kids and I think I might use this for my youngest daughter. I'm going to name her after the dancer, Chloe Lukasiak. She's on/used to be on the show Dance Moms.
I think of Chloe's with dark hair and kinda dark features. Only met one blonde Chloe and I don't think it fits. I'm not a fan of the accented names in America either. I think Chloe is more straight forward. Also, Khloe is plain trashy (sorry Khloé Kardashian!). I honestly think this name is harsh to pronounce and sounds extremely childish. I would prefer Cleo, if anything. I can't believe my parents chose this for my sister as they carefully chose a name for me that could age well.
I like this name! It has sass!
Alright, so to be completely honest, I hate how every single one of the other Chloe's are blonde, and brainless... My name is Chloé, the French version but Chloé nonetheless. My name is usually thought of as whiny brats, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a whole popular vibe to them... I'm here to say that not all of us Chloe's are like that. In fact I have brown hair, blue grey green eyes (which are a conversation on their own) and yes, I'm thin, but I'm of French decent, so thin and petite fit right in along there. But then there's the thought that all of us Chloe's are brainless. Well, let me tell you, I may not be the best at math or spelling, but science is a strong passion of mine. So is music, rather classical or some fun jazz, or even opera! Art is also a major thing in my life, rather it be with a brush or ballet. As for the peppy look... It's a fashion style that looks best on short petite girls. So yeah, I like that style, but you know what?... I also love quirky styles too. So next time you make an opinion based on the name of a person you know, let them know it's because of that person. Because some people may have prissy names... But they could end up being the coolest people you ever meet.
Cute name for a little girl, but doesn't sound right on an adult.
This name is incredibly boring in my opinion. :|
Not a fan...
It makes me think of someone who is spoiled and fake.
I'm not too fond of this name. In my experience, every 'Chloe' I have ever met whether they be a character from a book, a tv show, movie or, in real life all had the same personality; all beauty, no brains, preppy, stuck up, FAKE PERSONALITY.Sorry, but I really can't help but think of a female who may have beauty but has no brains (meaning common sense) and is an all around FAKE. Someone whom I would despise.
I've met 13 different Chloes in my lifetime from various events and all of their personalities were the same or at least, nearly the same.
Also the name alone just sounds stuck up, and too preppy.
The name Chloe comes off as sounding very annoying. Placed on an attractive, preppy, fake, whiny type girl who's used to getting whatever she wants instead of having respect for others and earning the things she has.
A Chloe would chip a nail and freak or if a little bit of mud got onto them, they would freak.
Not a fan of Chloe...
Too common. Also, sounds a bit like cloying... not good.
I know so many dogs and cats named Chloe.
Too common.
I like it, because it sounds unique, (which, with everyone using it these days, it won't be much longer.) But the spellings like chole, khloe, and cloe are just stupid.
~ChimiCherryChanga!
It's surprising that it's supposedly so "popular" in the USA considering that I've never met a Chloe in my life. However, I think that Chloe isn't the best name because many people mispronounce it. It's KLO-ee, not CHLO-ee. Otherwise, an okay name, but I always think of a Bratz doll when I hear it..
Personally I love the name Chloe. I feel it is a very easy name to say. It is also a very popular british name but originally occurred in Ireland. However, it isn't as popular in Ireland as it is in Britain.
I like this name cause I have a friend called Chloe but I do think it is too common. In my family I have 3 cousins and an aunt called Chloe so when they all come over like at christmas it gets very confusing. Nicknames that I have heard for Chloe are Clo and Coco. It is a very nice name though and makes me think of butterfly's and graceful ballerinas.
I think people at the name census center make sure all the pretty names get on top so nobody could use them because I work at a day care center at my school and love to look at the maternity center and I have never met a Chloe. So yeah, I find it really weird that half of the names I see on the list I don't see in real life.
My name is Chloe Elyse. I used to hate my name because when I was little (I'm 22) it was very unpopular and I couldn't get any of those personalized knick-knacks like license plates or pens with my name on them. I love my name now though, even though I don't like how popular it's gotten. I like being uncommon! And I have a bear of an Italian last name, so I think my mother did a wonderful job coming up with a middle name that connected my first and last together gracefully.
Overused!
It's my name! Why would I hate it? I read the comments and they kinda hurt my feelings. But I love it and that is perfect! And it's funny I look almost exactly like Chloe Mortez! XD
This a pretty name but the only thing that is wrong is that I can't imagine somebody strong with this name. I imagine a young, delicate and sweet little girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. So it might not be a good name to grow old to but still sweet.
I hate this name! And I hate Chloe Moretz!
Personally, I really don't like this name as I feel that it is very boring. I know a Chloe and she is horrible, so I guess my opinions of this name have always been tainted with the memories of this awful girl. I am very sorry if this offends anyone, but unfortunately this is the way I feel.
I like it. I picture a Chloe as a take-no-crap kind of girl.
I love this name but it reminds me of a cat...
I like this name a lot. I know a little girl named Chloe and she is just the sweetest thing. Absolutely darling! I will always think lovely thoughts of this name.
54 years ago I acquired this name. It was odd but unique. Difficult for school but wonderful for life. Back when it was unheard of before the perfume the meaning was "a fresh blossom". It is Greek. I believe the perfume bottle is shaped like a flower not grass. So there maybe something to the blossom thing.
This name is one of the worst names ever when used as a baby name. Can you just think harder about it? C'mon people, there's nothing special about this name. Nor the sound or meaning is amusing. The meaning only means GRASS or LAWN in Greek. How embarrassing to know that you have a name that means grass. The sound is blah as well, let me think of a rhyming word..."Glowing", yet the name is very DIM. I mean there are a bunch of other rhyming words but I'm just trying to give you my opinion. It's time people got a realization of this name and also it decreases in popularity.
I adore the name Chloe. I used to absolutely hate it with a passion, but now it's in my top 5. And people, it matures quite well. It was in the top 1000 for 1900. I hate this whole "if it ends in "-E" it's cutesy" thing. What about Bethany, Emily, and Rosalie? Do those names age poorly? I think we should look at the whole name and not just its ending. And about its popularity, I do think it's rather common. It's in the top 10 for the U.S., and I know four Chloes. I still love the name, and I am not bothered by its popularity. It's popular for a reason, it's a great name! (:
I don't know anybody with this name, and if this is your name, don't be insulted. You're not a bad person because of your name.In all honesty, I really dislike this name. It's just... cheap. It's too common and overused. Well I guess it would be a alright name on a young girl, but think about it - when she gets to be like forty or something, will it sound so good then? How about when she's a grandmother? Yeah, not my kind of name. Sorry, no offense intended.
I like the name Chloe. It doesn't need a nickname. I just hope that Khloe Kardashian doesn't manage to sigmatize the name.
This name can mature easily, and can suit many different types of girls. It has a long history behind it, and it's modern without being along the same lines as "Jayden" and "Nevaeh".That being said, I don't like it. There's just something about it that I find unattractive. I recently learned that my mom wanted to call me Chloe, and I'm glad she didn't, though I didn't get a much better deal with "Destiny".
I have to admit, Chloe seems a bit like a dog's name to me. It is cute, though, and I like how it means "young shoot." I want to use it as a middle name for Celeste.
Reminds me of the Chlorine gas.
This is my name! I used to hate it for the longest time (I wanted to be called 'Willow' or something like that, I was a strange child) but ever since I heard the meaning of it, I began to love it again.'Green Shoot'. Wow :D
My best friend's name is Chloe, and she's blonde and blue eyed, but wears black all the time. So that take the fluff level down a few notches for me. That being said, I don't LOVE the name, but I certainly don't hate it either. I wouldn't use it, but there's nothing wrong with it. And to all the people who hate on names, remember: Every single name on this site has been given to an actual living, breathing human being with FEELINGS. So you may not like a name, and you can say as such, but please don't make generalities, or too snarky comments. :)
I absolutely love the name Chloe! It is beautiful and sophisticated, a very lovely name. :) The only sad thing about it is that is is getting so popular. Because of this, even though it's my own name, I probably wouldn't name my child it.
This name is beautiful, it's the best name I've ever heard!
This is my name and I love it! It's the sound and the look of the name that I love about it!
I don't know why there is so many people who say "This name is fine for NOW but can you imagine when they get old?" I'm sure in like, 2060 or some nutty year like that people will associate names like Ashley, Emily, or CHLOE with old people. Besides, the name Chloe has been around forever. I know it's a cutesy name to a lot of you, but in the Bible Paul had a friend called Chloe.
Chloe is a cute name, but I'm not sure about how well it ages.
For the longest time, I hated this name. I think it mostly had to do with some Mary-Kate and Ashley teen movies/Tv-shows. And a skanky Bratz doll. However, this name has grown on me so much that it is now in my Top 10. It is really a lovely name, with some unfortunate namesakes. However, I think this name fits both a child and an adult, as well as an older woman--it ages well with the bearer.
Considering the meaning of this name "Green Shoot/Grass" it's like saying you are what it means. Sounds ugly and gross too.
Interesting, my name is Chloe and all of you who described what you think Chloe would look like could almost be describing me. I have dark blond, curly hair, slim build, pale skin, and hazel eyes. Also, I'm 20, and I can say that yes it is a name that can mature with you, all you need is to have met a mature Chloe to know that. The name, I was told by friends who speak Greek as their native language, means young grass. Personally I wasn't impressed by the literal meaning, but I tend to think of it as representing hope, like the small green shoots that are the first signs of spring. Having this name has definitely shaped the way I view myself, as a unique individual and someone who has the ability to be a bringer of hope.
My friend's name is Chloe, but like me with Zoe, she puts two dots on the E {Chloë}. I like the name, especially for a pale skinned, blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl. If you do think its too popular and only for little kids, maybe you could either have it for a middle name OR have a nickname like Coco or Lola.
Chloe. Ugh. Years ago, my mothers friend told me she picked a unique name for her daughter, and then she told me she'd named her Chloe. This sounds like a name that someone who's TRYING to be unique, original and "cool" would name their kid.
Chloe is an extremely pretty name and one hundred years ago it was elegant, classy and very rare.BUT unfortunately today it is not only horribly common, it is also most common amongst trashy families trying to sound better than they are. As a result, teenage Chloes today tend to be skanky little gutter-snipes.It's sad, because they've ruined a really lovely name.
I always thought the name Chloe was cute. However, so many other people think so. As a result, this name is overused. I prefer the Italian form Cloe, despite it being unfortunately associated with a Bratz doll.
Chloe is good for those who are bored with all the other common names. If you wanna feel good, stand out (in a good way), and make a good impression, then this is the name for you or your child. It sounds wonderful. People like being expressive with their appearance, why not with your first name? Very cool.
My cousin's name is Chloe, and I absolutely LOVE this name! Chloe is such a sweet name. =] Chloe is just an amazing name! =]
How could you not like this name? It is so cute and gorgeous at the same time!
Chloe. I like the way it rolls off my tongue but it's just so darn popular!
My name is Chloe. Honestly it's not that popular, and when I was like ten I hated this name. Now I like it more, and it is a bit of a hard name to carry, since every substitute teacher I've ever had has told me that their dog, car or hamster has this name. But I like it now, I think it sounds mature and really cool.
I think the name Chloe sounds beautiful. It is my best friends name and she happens to be the only person I know with it. Some people do have a hard time pronouncing it but I think its a modern and classic name. My friend happens to be very edgy and out there but the name itself presents a more refined elegance and quietness in my opinion. For a nickname I call her Clo but I agree there aren't many choices.
My name is Chloe and although I am still young, I have never had a problem with my name. I think it's cute. I have never met another Chloe in my life, but I worry that every little kid will be called Chloe and it will turn into the new Jessica. Sometimes people have had a problem with the spelling and how people pronounce it. I am often called Cho-lee, which is very annoying. Also, it's not a name you can easily come up with a nickname for.
Sounds yucky somehow to me.
I think this name sounds yucky. It always makes me think of an arrogant person. It just sounds really stupid.
I love the name Chloe! I have a 6 year old cousin that has this name, and it fits her very well. I can definitely see her growing with this name! So pretty!
Mmmm, I REALLY like this name. It's solid to me, unique without being weird. It's beautiful without being presumptiously high and haughty. It's simple yet not at all boring. I've only met one Chloe who's a toddler, but undoubtedly with it's popularity once you name your daughter this, you will meet many many more. I think popular names are that for a reason though, many people appreciate them!
I'm sick of people putting down this name! It's my name and I'm proud of it. If people have nothing better to do but go around insulting people who have this name, then they're pretty pathetic. Grow up.
I don't like the way this name is spelt. It makes me think of chlorine.
I've met a couple of Chloe's in my lifetime and they were all very nice people but I agree that it's too sweet. Reminds me of a pink cloud. Bleh. Or cotton candy. You can't grow into it because it has nothing else to mature into. Even the similar name Zoë gives an air of uniqueness and an impression that what you see isn't always what you get.But Chloe? Come on. It so predictable.
I like the name. It seems elegant. Also, Chloe is not popular here in KY.
In my opinion, one of the most pretentious names ever. It sounds like a name for a girl who is sort of harshly pretty and thinks she's above everyone else for no good reason.
I'm surprised this name isn't French.
It'd be weird for me personally to meet a person named this, although it's pretty and sophisticated sounding, because I've only known two cats with the name my whole life, lol.
I think the name Chloe is timeless. In my lifetime I have only met two Chloes. Should I have a girl, I would surely name her Chloe Elizabeth. Not to mention, Chloe is the name of a very nice smelling perfume!
Chloe is cutesy, French and pretentious. It is liked only for its cliche beauty. I honestly can't imagine a real person with this name.
I think it's a lovely name, but I think it will, in time, become overly popular. I like it a lot but I think it'll head in the same direction as Ashley.
The name Chloe makes me picture a young, slender, pale woman with sandy-colored hair down to her chin line who has light eyes and wears little or no make-up, dresses in white, light pink, light blue, and other light colors, and looks a little untouchable and unapproachable, like she's not fully human. She looks very neat and clean, and looks like she could use a proper meal and something to put a smile on her serious face. The name sounds much softer than Zoë, but I'm not big on the ''OH-ee'' sound.
Sounds too cutesy and childish.
I forgot to mention in the previous comment that this is a lovely name, though it is a bit short and might need the accompanyment of something a little longer. Perhaps Chloe Maria or Chloe Alexandra. The second name should presumably end with an a.I would definitely name my daughter this, though I have never before met an actual Chloe and I think it is rare where I live (North Carolina).Just a thought: If one wishes to mention that a name is common or rare where one lives, a notation of where that is would not be amiss.
This is my name and to be honest, I would have much preferred to be called something more traditional, like Elizabeth or Victoria. It's just too common now and a bit stereotyped, plus a lot of people misspell it, which is irritating.
I don't know any actual person named Chloe so I'm not sure where everyone comes with the common thing. This is gonna be my little girl's name for sure.
My best friend's name is Chloe and that's the only person I know or have heard of (other than the designer) with this name. So I don't see how it's too popular. Of course now that I said that it will become the next Ashley (eww). It reminds me of the goddess Zoe, which in turn makes me think of strength. So I totally disagree with the previous commentors that say that it is too "cutesy". I love my amazing friend's name.
I would use this name, but it sounds too ethnic. Maybe if I lived in Ireland, I would use it. Chole is sweet, but I wouldn't use it.
Chloe is a beautiful and classy name. Its meaning is nice, and it has thousands of years of history! Still some people say parents are morons for naming their kids like that. What a pity.
I think Chloe is a beautiful name (as it is mine). It is beautiful also in older ladies. Anyone that thinks otherwise is just narrow minded.
Awful, trendoid name. 5 million stupid couples giving their kid this name so their little brat will seem exotic and French. Blech!
The origin of the name Chloe is Greek and means "green shoot" (or something close) so I have no idea where you got the idea that it is French other than the fashion label.
I think it is sweet sounding, but seems far too youthful. I think that spelling it with the trema/diareses (Chloë) not only makes it sound more mature, but also hints that it is not pronounced "Chlo" to the uninformed. :-)
Personally, I love the name, I have only met a single person bearing that name. And she tells me it's pronounced KLOH-AY, even though there is no accent above the e. I think both Chloe & Chloé are beautiful names.
Recently, after hearing this name on the news, I really began to love it! It is not very popular in my area, which makes it all the more attractive. I think there is one Chloe in the whole of my sister's elementary school, which holds around 500 or so children. It has an undeniably cute sound, and is somehow intriguing, elegant, and girlish all at once.
It's my name {as u can tell by my user name}. I really like it, I think it's a great name and can be very mature but youthful.
This name is so cute, but I don't like the spelling much. It looks a bit ugly to me, and yet I can't think of many possible variations that are any better.
I really like this name, I have a cousin named Chloe. I think even though it's been used for quite a while now it's still quite a modern name.
This is my name, and all of you who said you hate are going a little overboard. My opinion.
I have four daughters and my second daughter is named Chloe and her middle name is Emma. I chose her name because it suits people of any age and it sounds very soft and sweet.
Chloe is a nice name, but I'm not sure about what ethnic name it is used for most often.
I really like the name, and think it's cute and sweet. But, if I think about this name for a bit, I start thinking that the combination of the OE sound and the EE sound make the name have a strange quality. Like something is muddy, someone is Chloe. The same is true for Zoe.
This is my name and I was born long before the name became popular. I have only met one other person my age with the name and that was when I was a little girl.
I disagree with the people who think this name cannot grow with a child. Although it does have a sweet, youthful tone, I think it is also extremely elegant. I have met an elderly woman named Chloe, and I thought it was perfect for her. The unfortunate thing is that this name is so popular. I could never feel justified in giving a child a name that so many other people have.
This is my name and, to be honest, I'm not wild about it. I would much rather have been called something like Judith or Ariadne. I know someone who has the same name but spells it as 'Kloe' which I think is a very unattractive spelling.
I like the name Chloe. I like names that are short and sweet :)
This classical name, like Emily, has been mauled by popularity. So many people bear it it is actually refreshing to hear something different: even if it is not a classic. Just for once I'd love to hear of a kid given a name that is slightly unusual and not following the current trend of the day.
This spelling is so much nicer than Cloe.
It's such a pretty and cute name! I just adore it.
I like this name, though I always associate it with the Days of Our Lives character (which isn't necessarily a bad thing.) Because of that, I tend to see it as an elegant, mature name, rather than cutesy.
I have to say that this name is truly a disgrace! Doesn't it just SCREAM clown to you? This name is bromidic, lacks originality and definitely cannot grow with your child. Why won't you monotonous people use something beautiful like Gaia, Athena, Ariadne and Persephone? They are all Greek mythological names, plus sound WAY better than this disingenuous fad to the moon and back! Anyone care to challenge me, be my guest.
Apologies for the above comment, but this name has really begun to grow on me, and I have no idea why! Just one of those cutsy names, I presume, that you can't completely loathe, just like Emily!
I would never use this name, it's far too popular now. It's also way too cutesy sounding. I cannot imagine being a grown, mature woman with this name.
This name is cutesy.
Chloe is a beautiful name. It is definitely rising in popularity. I don't personally know even one Chloe and haven't seen many in my kids' school.
Far too popular.
Ever since I have heard of this name, I have loved it. It isn't in my opinion pronounced the way it is spelled, which makes the name to me even more intriguing. It's a very hip & chic name. I love it.
This name sounds exotic and cool.
I love this name. I think it's odd that it is not more popular!
"That it's not more popular"?! How much more popular do you want it to be!? Check the popularity list for Chloe.
Author and baby name guru Linda Rosenkrantz has a daughter named Chloe.
I was simply going by the fact that in my entire life, I have only met one person (the daugter of someone I know) with that name. That said, I do believe it is becoming too popular, and could very well loose it's 'cache'.
I never liked this name. It sounds stupid and old fashioned.
This is a beautiful name. I have a second cousin named Chloe.
