Fine nickname for a young man named Charles. As a given name in its own right it sounds like the parents want him to be the stereotypical jock in high school movies from the 90s and somehow remain so for the rest of his life. Not the worst male name I've heard (I'm looking at you, people naming their boys Diesel, Satchel, or Trucker), but I would advise anyone against it.
This name sounds completely teenager-ish to me. I can't see a small child or a grown man named Chaz, just a teen. It doesn't sound particularly mature or serious, and it sounds far more like a nickname than a full first name. It's also a little too close to Chad for my liking, as Chad isn't a name I'm fond of.
Ever heard of Chaz Bufe? Well, you haven't missed a thing. He's a wacky anarchist who thinks kids should be brought up in a commune, among other things.
I really like this name. It is simple, but not boring at all. I also know a very nice person named Chaz, which makes me like the name even more. What I don't get is that it is decreasing in popularity! Wonder why?
