Pretty, but I feel like the “ia” part is too long and unnecessary. So, I prefer Alexandra.
This is such a pretty name. I actually prefer this over Alexandra, which I think sounds rather incomplete. Possible nicknames could be Alex, Andria, Lexie, and so much more.

I named my daughter after the city in Egypt. I loved that Alexandria was the centre of learning in the ancient world, and also that it was the first city renamed after Alexander the Great died. My daughter definitely lives up to the meaning. She is helpful and often the first one to stand up for others! She goes by Lexi. She has a friend from Alexandria, Egypt in her class, I love it!
I love this name and it's sound, but I'd never give a child this name as it reminds me way too much of a city in Egypt and the child might get teased because of it. I like Alexandra, Alexa and Alexia better, but this name is also very beautiful.

My name is Alexandria and I go by Alex. When I was younger I was called Alli but as I got older my family and friends started to call me Alex so it just stuck with me and I like it better too. I really prefer Alexandria even though it's not as common as Alexandra. FYI just because it is a city doesn't mean it cannot be used as a first name. Lots of other names are cities too and no one complains about that.
I don't like Alexandria as much as Alexandra, contrary to the consensus here. To me, Alexandria is kind of over-the-top/"princessy" whereas Alexandra is strong and has the perfect amount of femininity. The vibe I get from this name is similar to the vibe I get from Lauren in that both names are more delicate than a similar sounding name.
This name is like Alexandra. For nicknames, see my comment on Alexandra and for the ones ending with A, just put I before the A for Alexandria.
I have given this name to my daughter when my husband wanted it to be Alexandra. I like it as it can have lots of short names. All her friends call her Alex, my family call her Ale. Best thing I like about it is Alex can be for a boy or girl. I'm sure she will thanks us for the name we gave her :)
I like it, but 5 syllables is a bit overkill. Maybe Alexandra would be better but it's more common though. Either way it can still be shortened to Ali or Alex or Lexi or something like that. And to people complaining that it's the name of a city. SERIOUSLY? So is Charlotte and Sydney and other such names but I don't hear anyone complaining about those names.
Duchess Alexandria is a character played by Rhonda Fleming in the film The Great Lover (1949).
I prefer Alexandra to this name, mostly because I used to live in a city in Virginia called Alexandria. It's the name of a few other cities as well, so Alexandria doesn't sound like the name of a person to me.

My name is Alexandria and I've always liked it. When I discovered its meaning, defender of mankind, I loved it even more. I can't exactly pinpoint why. It's just a lovely name. Since it tends to be a bit of a mouthful sometimes, I usually go by Lexi, which I honestly prefer to other nicknames like Alex or Ally. In my grade, there is a girl named Alexandra, and we go by different nicknames in order to tell our names apart when people don't see the difference. She goes by Ally.
Pronounced ah-lek-sahn-DREE-ah in Swedish.
My name is Alexandria and I know many people named Alexandra. Before I knew them, however, I hated the name because no one pronounced it correctly. Now, I like that even if we all go by Alex, My name is different than the other people I know.
Being a History geek, that name is an honor on a separate level because of Alexander the Great and his magnificent cities named Alexandria. The name also evolves with the girl, which will be useful throughout her life. The name makes me feel like one of the beautiful fantasy women I read about or a European Queen in a history textbook. If it wasn't my name, I would give it to my daughter.

Pretty name, but I prefer Alexandra.
Very pretty, a bit overly-long however. I prefer Alexandra, however, with the nickname "Xandra."

My name's Alexandria. Even since I was little I liked my name, but when I got older I realized even how much better it was. My name can have so many interesting, cute, and even normal nicknames. Though, my nickname is Alex, which is really common, I still really like it. People have always asked why I went by the name 'Alex', it's because it's short, sweet, and tomboyish. I like how my name can be used for both boy and girl, yet my real name is unique, long, and pretty, and my nickname is short, sweet, and tomboyish. This name is perfect for girls, because they can look at it anyway they want, they can be girly and go by the name Allie, they can be interesting and go by the name like Ali, or they can just go with the name Alex.

As far as I've seen, it's not too popular, and there's a city by the name. Plus it's a city named after Alexander the Great, so, yeah. :3
There is also a city called Alexandria in southern Romania.

I never really liked my name when I was younger but I'm now 14 and enjoy how I can have so many cutsy nicknames along with the full out sophisticated name. When ever people ask me "Why don't you go by Alexandria, rather than Alex?" I reply back "Alexandria is my princess name, but until then Alex will do".
I love this name; it's so strong and feminine, and it has so many nice nicknames for every stage in a girl's life, from tomboyish to super feminine. I'd definitely consider using this name for a daughter.
My 13 year old daughter's name is Alexandria. I've always loved the name because it was not as common and is easier to say than Alexandra. I wanted a name that was extremely strong and yet can be shortened to be fun and sporty. She goes by Alex, but now is beginning to embrace her full name for its beauty, strength, and more uniqueness than its more common sister name.
I think Alexandria is a cute name and has many different cute nicknames. That means they can have a cute child-ish name as a kid and as the grow up they can go by their strong real name or an older mature nickname. I just like the way Alexandria sounds.
Alexandria is the best 'place name' out there! It's very strong but still feminine.
It is also a town in Virginia.
This is such a strong name. It's certainly pretty and feminine, but not quite as delicate (nor as "flowery") as some other formal English female names. I like that this name is easily shortened into a variety of nicknames. My niece is named Alexandria, and calls herself Ali. I love this little moniker -- I much prefer it over (the more common?) Alex. To me it sounds cuter, sweeter, and prettier.
