Meaning & History
Derived from the Greek adjective ἀγλαότιμος (aglaotimos) meaning "splendidly honoured", which consists of the Greek adjective ἀγλαός (aglaos) meaning "splendid, shining, bright" (see Aglaos) combined with the Greek verb τιμάω (timao) meaning "to honour, to esteem, to revere".This was also an epithet of Demeter, the Greek goddess of the harvest, agriculture, sacred law and the cycle of life and death.
