I absolutely LOVE this name. I teach 1st grade in CT and have had an Adeline in my class (all pronounced rhyme with valentine, sunshine) each of the last three years, so it definitely seems popular! My husband and I are expecting a baby girl this November and are so excited for our very own baby Adeline!
Adeline Turnkey (née d’Ark) is the mother of titular protagonist Jane Turnkey in the 2005 Nelvana / Weta Workshop television series ‘Jane and the Dragon’. She is the queen’s lady-in-waiting and harbours disapproval of her daughter’s decision to become a knight rather than follow in her footsteps, though this largely stems from Adeline’s own grief and fear for Jane’s safety, since her own father, a knight, died defending the castle when she was young.
The sound 'add a line' makes it cute! Would use it 10/10!

I think this is a pretty name but all I see/hear is 'add a line'. I prefer Madeline, seems more complete.

Adeline is one of those names that just sounds good on the ears. I remember talking with my friends about future baby names on a random night and I mentioned “Adeline” and they all had the same “awww” reaction.

I love my name and not a lot of people have it so it's very unique :)
The English pronunciation given for this is AD-ə-lien, but I intuitively pronounce Adeline as AD-ə-leen, sort of like the French. It's Adaline that I read as AD-ə-lien, with a long I.
I love the name Adeline. It has been in my family for many generations. Adeline was my mother's name & my grandmother's name. If I had a daughter I would name her Adeline. My father called my mother Ad or Addie & her sister, my aunt Mary called her L. It's a great name for two wonderful ladies that live forever in my heart. Adeline Laura Genova/Daddona (my mother's name) Adeline Genova (Colosanto) (my grandmother's name)
My name is Adeline, I love the name so much. The most beautiful thing about it is the meaning... Noble and kind, it's a match of both royalty and compassion. It's a default attitude of all "Adeline's" irrespective of how it's been spelt. Their personality is top notch. I can even kinda think that they might share like temperaments. Lolz! But I also love the fact people always tell me this is their first time to hear the name, that makes me feel cool. Consider the name for your little princess, you'll be glad you do.
This is my daughter's name and we love it! We get so many compliments! It's a very old and classic name so it can't be considered trendy, even though it's gaining some in popularity. We have not had any pronunciation issues with similar, made up names.

Having named my daughter Adeline Grace, which is overly popular and only trending upward, has been a constant torment for 5 months. I cannot even say my daughter's name out loud. I am constantly questioned how to pronounce it, and though some say it is pretty, I get a lot of people with guarded reactions. My husband and I end most conversations in argument. Please consider the ramifications of naming your daughter an overly trendy name.

The pronunciation will cause confusion. It. Will. Cause. Confusion. I recommend spelling the name Adaline if you prefer the Add-uh-line spelling, as this is less likely to be pronounced differently. Add-a-leen, Add-a-line, and rarely Add-a-lynn.

I named my daughter this (I felt pressured to give a name after labor, which isn't the best time to finalize a name choice) and at first pronounced it with the "lin" sound, but everyone seemed to pronounce it with the "line," so we changed it. However, I have struggled with the fact I named her this as many seem to have difficulty grasping this name, and many want to shorten it to Addy, which is not preferable to me. I have talked to my husband about legally changing it (she is 5 months), but I am concerned about the drama of changing a name.
Adelline is my name and I like to pronounce it like Adel-line.

I love the name, personally. My friend's name is Adeline and she is the sweetest thing ever. It's really fitting and elegant and not over used.
I love the name Adeline/Adaline. I think it is a stunning name that is not very common. I prefer the spelling Adaline like in the movie, Age of Adaline. I like the pronunciation ad-uh-line. I do not care for the pronunciations ad-uh-lin or ad-uh-leen. I think the Adaline spelling would be less likely to cause pronunciation issues.
Beautiful name and not too popular or overused. Fits a baby, child and adult of any age. I prefer the spelling Adeline with the nickname possibilities Della or Elle.

This name can also be spelled Adaline. It is still pronounced the same with this spelling (ADD-a-line). This is also the spelling and pronunciation used by the recent movie, "Age of Adaline."
Adeline means noble and kind. A form of Adele. Addie/Addy is adorable! Ages so beautifully. Oh what a name! You could call her Ellie or Elle if you wanted to also. Ad-uh-line. Gorgeous.
"Sweet Adeline, my Adeline..." One of several good names I first heard on I Love Lucy. ;) (Which would also include Adelaide.) This is a pleasant, melodious sort of name. Considering that I don't much care for names starting with "Mad," I definitely prefer it to Madeline.
The name Adeline was in use, though uncommon, until the 1980's in France. It's most popular year so far was 1991, when it was given to 3, 214 baby girls. I adore the French pronunciation but I can't stand the English one. 'Add-a-line' just isn't appealing to me, but 'add-a-leen' is simply gorgeous :)
I would also suggest going with Madeline (or a variant), especially if it is to be used as a firstname. I am not a fan of names that begin with "Ade-", in general... they tend to sound very infantile, soft, insignificant, and produce a somewhat funny sound when said. Adeline is slightly better than Adelaide, though, I suppose.
Kinda weird. I'd suggest just going with Madeline. This sounds like "add a line" and it could easily be mispronounced.

No thanks. It sounds super long, and its really just Madeline with out the M. I much prefer Madeline.

I love this name. It's beautiful, has a pleasant meaning, and I think it would fit all stages of life. If I have a daughter I am definitely going to consider this name. I prefer the French pronunciation over the English one and I like Ada for a nickname.
I have always liked the name Adeline and would use it, except I can't think of any name to put with it that I like. I think the best way to spell it is definitely ADELINE.
This was my gramma's middle name. She pronounced it AD-A-LINE. But she was named after her Aunt who was a French American so it was probably pronounced AD-A-LEEN by her. Most people I know pronounce it like gramma.
I like this name. I would pronounce it ADD UH LYN, though. I love name with an "in" sound that end in "ine", like Madeline and Katherine. So pretty! I don't like Adelyn though. Pretty name, lucky little girl that gets this name. ☺
This is more popular than Adele at the moment in America.Adeline is certainly elegant, but spelt only this way. It's not cute to spell a name incorrectly.
I had never heard this name until a friend from school said she wanted to name her first daughter Adilyn. Now I kind of think it's cute, but I wouldn't use it.

Adeline is very beautiful, but I feel that Adelaide is gentler.
Adeline is my daughter's name! I think it's sweet, and classic. My hubby and I get a lot of, "Oh, what a pretty name", when we introduce her! Her middle name is Mable, and we call her Addy Mae!
Pretty, sweet. Adeline is classic, so it ages well. It's easy to pronounce, spell, and has a good meaning -- it's the diminutive pet form of a name that comes from the meaning "noble." I really like this name.
I think this name is very nice, a wonderful alternative to the masculine and overly-trendy Addison. I especially fancy the spelling "Addelyn", for some reason.
