Re: Victorian Era Generational CAF - Part 1
Hector Thornton is a somewhat self-important but very talented blacksmith and farrier (maker of horseshoes) living in Leeds. In 1826, at the age of 22, he meets 20-year-old Meg Baker, a physician's daughter, and they fall in love quickly. The two are fairly well-off and get married in 1827. The two purchase a modest yet beautiful home in the city. During the day, Meg mends clothing items for a small fee and attends teas in the afternoon with several good friends of hers. Only a year after their marriage, Meg gives birth to a beautiful baby boy with curly brown hair.DH (1804): Hector Caradoc Thornton

DS1 (1828): Phillip Nehemias Robert ThorntonA year after Phillip's birth, Meg finds out she is pregnant once again. In the spring of 1830, Meg and Hector welcome Cassander, their second son. Cassander is such a happy, easy baby, and both parents are thrilled. Shortly after his birth, Meg's mother falls ill and passes away. The family mourns - Meg was especially fond of her mother and misses her dearly. Meg's father is also grieved and moves to Leeds to be nearer to his daughter, Meg, his only surviving child. He becomes a household presence and a wonderful grandfather to Phillip and Cassander.DS2 (1830): Cassander Alexander Demosthenes ThorntonOver the next few years, Meg gives birth to another healthy baby, a girl. They name her Esther. The family is thrilled - they feel complete with so many children in their home, even though money has become a little more tight as the children have aged. Meg begins dressmaking in the family's attic to earn a little extra money, and in 1837, she becomes pregnant again, this time with twins. The birth process is arduous, but Meg eventually gives birth to two small babies, Nelle and Miles. Meg never fully recovers from the birth and passes away three months later. The family is devastated and ten-year-old Phillip leaves school to begin peddling newspapers on the street.DD1 (1832): Esther Morrigan Mary Thornton
DD2 (1838): Helen Euphemia Anne Thornton
DS3 (1838): Miles Orestes Devereux ThorntonPhillip is, at 14, apprenticed to his father and begins work as a blacksmith. The other children attend school. In 1852, Phillip marries his childhood friend, Marjorie Wright. He now co-owns the blacksmith shop with his father, who is getting older and finds it harder to work. Margie and Phillip have only one child together: a brilliant and evidently intelligent girl named Julia. Phillip sends his daughter to a special girls' boarding school to learn mathematics and science. She thrives there and develops an interest in chemistry. When she graduates, she begins reading scientific journals and is apprenticed to a scientist and professor in Cologne, Germany, who is willing to allow her to use his laboratory. She becomes heavily influential in the sphere of science, despite her gender, publishing most of her findings under her professor's name or “J.M. Thornton”.DH (1828): Phillip Nehemias Robert Thornton
