Re: Victorian Era Generational CAF - Part 1
Arthur Griffiths is a somewhat self-important but very talented blacksmith and farrier (maker of horseshoes) living in Bristol. In 1826, at the age of 22, he meets 20-year-old Edwina Harris, a physician's daughter, and they fall in love quickly. The two are fairly well-off and get married in 1827. The two purchase a modest yet beautiful home in the city. During the day, Edwina mends clothing items for a small fee and attends teas in the afternoon with several good friends of hers. Only a year after their marriage, Edwina gives birth to a beautiful baby boy with curly brown hair named Harry.DH (1804): Arthur Caradoc Griffiths

In the spring of 1830, Arthur and Edwina welcome DS2, their second son. DS2 is such a happy, easy baby, and both parents are thrilled. Shortly after his birth, DW's mother falls ill and passes away. The family mourns - DW was especially fond of her mother and misses her dearly. Edwina’s father is also grieved and moves to Bristol to be nearer to his daughter, his only surviving child. He becomes a household presence and a wonderful grandfather to Harry and Johnny.DS2 (1830): John DuncanOver the next few years, Edwina gives birth to another healthy baby, a girl. They name her Grace. The family is thrilled - they feel complete with so many children in their home, even though money has become a little more tight as the children have aged. Edwina begins dressmaking in the family's attic to earn a little extra money, and in 1837, she becomes pregnant again, this time with twins. The birth process is arduous, but Edwina eventually gives birth to two small babies, Geordie and Nell. Edwina never fully recovers from the birth and passes away three months later. The family is devastated and ten-year-old Harry leaves school to begin peddling newspapers on the street.DD1 (1832): Grace Emerentiana

In 1852, Harry marries his childhood friend, Ambrosina “Brosie” Wright. He now co-owns the blacksmith shop with his father, who is getting older and finds it harder to work. Harry and Brosie have only one child together: a brilliant and evidently intelligent girl named Ida. Harry sends his daughter to a special girls' boarding school to learn mathematics and science. She thrives there and develops an interest in chemistry. When she graduates, she begins reading scientific journals and is apprenticed to a scientist and professor in Cologne, Germany, who is willing to allow her to use his laboratory. She becomes heavily influential in the sphere of science, despite her gender, publishing most of her findings under her professor's name.DH (1828): Harry Friso Griffiths
