Re: Willie

I think that to say that they are terrible unfortunate names, for the people who have them, because of the slang, is silly and kinda disrespectful.
Ha. This is how I've always felt whenever someone has snickered at the name of my Uncle Dick. I inwardly roll my eyes at their immaturity, but I also feel a little angry because I find it disrespectful. I want to explain that my uncle was born in 1929, before the slang term had gained wide currency, and therefore my grandparents were not cruel idiots who decided to slap their son with a cringe-worthy name that invites ridicule.
So why did I say what I did about Willie? How hypocritical of me.
I apologize to every Willie out there.
