[Opinions] Re: Lillian

I'm more confused about your perception of Evelyn. To me it fits right in with all the soft satiny names like Ava and... Avalynn... it's just the name that people who secretly want to use Avaleigh or whatever use if they want to pretend they're tasteful, it's totally fashionable phonetically. However, I do remember feeling this way about Isabella, in, like, 2005.
Lillian is a little more dowdy and mealy than Evelyn. It doesn't seem particularly surprising to me... I just think of parents who want something more formal for Lily.

I think Evelyn is about the dowdiest name. It is so... ugly. Like, I imagine it said in a NY accent at a retirement home in Boca Raton. It does not seem satiny in the least to me. The difference between Ava and Evelyn to me is like the difference between Bertha and Bella. They just aren't really comparable in my mind because their styles are so different, or maybe my associations are so different. IDK. But I do see what you're saying.
For what it's worth, I have the same kind of association with Sophie. Sophie is old and dusty and talcum covered and owns a toy poodle and all of her furniture is skirted and she's perfumed and fussy.
