[Opinions] Re: What are some authentic Indian names for girls?
in reply to a message by Lily8
The thing with India is that people in different regions are likely to have different types of names, based on religious affiliations, regional history, and regional culture. That said, some of the more trendy/popular girl names in India include:
Arpita
Ekta
Kanyakumari
Kavita - which I have seen in use
Laxmi
Mandakranta
Mrignayani
Parvati
Priyamvada
SeemaI rather like Kanyakumari, myself.

Thanks!Have you seen Lakshmi in use? Or Asha, Lalita and Shanti? Kanyakumari is nice but a bit long. Are nicknames used in India? If so is there one for Kanyakumari?I also like Parvati and Arpita.

I actually do know an Asha. I'm not exactly an authority, but any means, but Lakshmi is definitely used.
