My name is Sonya Amethyst. I was adopted from Russia at the age of two. I don't remember much of my history in Russia, but I have always been fascinated with Russian culture. I hope to travel there someday, and perhaps adopt a child of my own from Russia. I go by a shortened form of my middle name, Amy, because people in my area (for whatever reason) had trouble with my name. I don't know how or why, but it would always be pronounced wrong or spelled wrong. Amy is a simple name-three letters, not many pronounciations to get all mixed up. Someday I may switch back to using Sonya, but for now I use Amy. I have wavy light brown hair and green eyes. I'm not beautiful in the conventional sense, but my husband Jack finds me lovely, and that's enough for me. I'm 25 years old, and have been out of college for nearly three years. I chose social work as my profession because I wanted to help other kids who don't have homes. Right now, I work in domestic foster placing for children whose parents cannot, will not, or inadequately take care of them. I love what I do, though I hope to work in international adoption someday. My parents, Rose and Michael Deere. They couldn't have children, so they adopted a menagerie of children from around the world. I have six brothers and two sisters all from a different country than myself. My older sister, Zhen Mei (who goes by Sarah), is from China. I have three older brothers; Daniel Gawel (Danny) from Poland; Lucian Tyler (Luc) from America; and Cuthbert Andrew (Bertie) from England. My other sister is a year younger than me. Her name is Olena Willow (Lena) from the Ukraine. We have a lot in common with each other. My three younger brothers are: Teofil Jacob (Ted) from Poland, Abhay Julian (Jules) from India, and Rishi Manu (Ricky) also from India. Many of my older siblings are married, and have children, but it would be too cumbersome to list them all here. Now, enough about me, on to Jack!
My husband's name is John Caspian, but everyone calls him Jack. Jack says that when he was younger, he used to like playing tricks on people, and scaring them by jumping around a corner, out of the bushes, or from a hole in the ceiling (yes, it has happened). One time when he did it, the person compared him to a jack-in-the-box because he just pops up out of nowhere. The name Jack stuck, and everyone's used it ever since. Jack is about 3 inches taller than me. He has curly brown hair and mesmerizing blue eyes. Jack is 25 years old as well. We met in college, and dated for about a year in college. Afterward we lost contact; however, at our second year college reunion we bumped into each other and renewed our acquaintance. Eight and a half months later, we married at a large church in Brooklyn, New York, where Jack is from. He does have a bit of a New York accent, but doesn't talk as fast as some of his friends from home do. Jack and I currently reside in upstate New York, where Jack works as an elementary school teacher. Jack really likes his job, and the kids are naturally attracted to his easy-going personality. Jack's mother passed away six years ago from bone cancer. His father, however, is still living. Jack has a younger brother, and an older sister. His brother is a navy engineer who works on ships. His name is Joseph Christopher, or Joey. Jack's sister is Julia Christine. She is a registered nurse, and works for a small doctors clinic in Ohio. Jack can't wait to have his first child, and he's always sort of liked babies.
