Jane Austen CAF Dice Game
My favorite author is Jane Austen and I love that time period in which she wrote so I thought I'd make a CAF dice game using some of the pastimes, occupations, and names from the late 1700's to early 1800's when Ms. Austen wrote her six novels and many short stories. You'll need a six-sided dice so I've put a link to an electronic one below. Follow my directions and have fun! :)Electronic Dice: http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks1/maths/dice/DW

Eliza, the eldest lady of the house and wife of Walter, is the Daughter general, best at playing piano. Reverand Walter is a Clergyman. They met at the London Theater, and later marrieda and moved into a house on the country estate. They have six lovely children, three boys and three girls. The eldest is Edward, age 25, who enjoys painting. He recently got married, his wife is Julia Harriet (Bingley) Knightley. He is a noble, generous, intelligent man who works very hard and loves his wife. The second eldests are twins Henry and Benjamin, aged twenty three. Henry enjoys reading, while Benjamin prefers drawing. They are often together, obviously sharing a twin bond of some kind. Henry is the charming one, he enjoys going to balls. Benjamin is more serious, but also friendly. The first daughter, Lucy, is nineteen, and loves music. She is extremely pretty and has carried on her mother's talent for piano! Her playing is breathtaking and anyone will stop to listen to her play. The second, Eleanor, (17) is a fan of reading, like her brother, and is engaged to Robert Stephan Wentworth the third. She is very independant and likes to do as she pleases! The youngest, Jane, is fourteen and likes animals. She is flirtatious and girlie, and loves her older siblings dearly.LN: Knightley

Isabella Susanna is the daughter of a knight. She is very talented when it comes to Drawing and painting. She has long golden hair that cascades in waves to her waist and has sparkling green eyes as well. Her husband, William Christopher is a very succesful doctor. He has Short, Black hair and shocking blue eyes. They live together in a beautiful castle on the moors called "Castle at Uppercross" for they are on a well traveled road right before you come to a fork. They have Seven children that they love very much.
The eldest is a girl named Louisa Cassandra, she enjoys fishing with her father when she can get away from being such a young lady. She is 15 years old and she is (quite unfortunatly for her) a tom-boy.
Their next oldest children are twin boys named George Lewis and James Stephan. They are 10 years old and are identical with matching blonde hair and brown eyes. They both enjoy reading, but also like to play baseball.
Next comes 8 year old Emma Rebecca. She, like her oldest sister, is a tom-boy and enjoys playing baseball when she can sneak away with her brothers. She has brown eyes, brown hair, and freckles. She prefers to wear un-girly colors when she can.
Two years after Emma was born, they had Esther Sophia and Selina Marrianne. They are also identical twins with matching Black, straight locks, pale faces and icy blue eyes eyes. The little six year olds enjoy music the most and like to entertain themselves by writing little songs to sing and play. They are the real little ladies of the family.

The Knightley FamilyJulia Catherine Bennet (28) met her husband, Mr. Samuel Frederic Knightley (34) at a lovely dinner party. They wed quickly, moving into a London townhouse. Julia is the daughter of a wealthy landowner, and she impressed Samuel with her beautiful embroidery. Their 8 year old daughter, Clara Sophia, loves to fish. She is quite the tomboy. Their five year old twin boys, Benjamin William and Henry Charles, are complete opposites of each other.
Ben loves baseball, while Henry loves reading. Their youngest, little James Edward "Jem," is only 1. He likes to go along with Clara when she goes fishing on their land, the Barton Estate.

One of the earliest refrences to baseball...(m)One of the earliest refrences to baseball can be found in Jane Austen's early novel 'Nothanger Abbey'. Baseball is mentioned in Chapter One of that, my favorite novel, as being played by the heroine Catherine Morland who had seven brothers and as a tomboy was not quite fit for "an heroine".
Here is the quote: "...and it was not very wonderful that Catherine, who had by nature nothing heroic about her, should prefer cricket, baseball, riding on horseback, and running about the country at the age of fourteen, to books — or at least books of information...". But you are right, most girls probably would have better things to do with their time.
The things you learn about silly sbjects on this site! Ah me! :D
