The past three years have been a golden time for the Whitmore family. Teddy has sought and achieved a promotion to a managerial position at his company. The role comes with very healthy pay and the couple have been able to move into a 3 bedroom house on a quiet, tree-lined street, surrounded by retirees and young families. Teddy now believes they are stable enough to have a child. He intends to have only one so he can devote all the time and attention he didn’t receive whilst growing up in a big family.

Marie-Louise’s career has also been progressing well. She has moved into a department for international cooperation and, although her salary is not yet at the height of her husband’s, the job offers plenty of opportunities to travel and she has been seizing each one. The fridge in their new home is collecting a steady supply of fridge magnets, and they may soon have to store some of them on the freezer door. She is still uncertain about having a child at this point in her life, but has agreed because they are financially stable, it means a lot to Teddy and he has promised that they will only have one.

Their first (and perhaps only) baby is going to arrive in the height of summer. It will be the first grandchild in the Lindbeck family and Marie-Louise’s parents are very excited for the chance to spoil the little one. She was determined to name the baby after her parents regardless of whether it was a boy or girl, and now that the gender is revealed, her father is behaving as if he has won a prize. Teddy is less certain about giving the baby an unusual name for everyday use, and would prefer to honour an aspirational figure whom he hopes his son will emulate. Discussions are ongoing.

DS will be named after his maternal grandfather, a classic Swedish name, and a historical person that Teddy finds admirable. It is your choice which is the first and which is the middle name. His surname is Whitmore.
