In 1988, the WMO decided to retire the names Arlene, Cindy, Dennis, Floyd, Irene, Jose, Katrina, Lee, Margot, Ophelia, Philippe, Rina, Stan, Tammy, Wilma, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Eta, Theta, and Iota. Due to Greek rules, they are gonna be used later on. They were replaced with Annette, Crystal, Don, Franklin, Irma, Jorge, Katia, Lance, Martha, Olympia, Pierre, Ruth, Sean, Thelma, and Whitney for the 1993 season, respectively.
