I'm back after a very busy and fun month, ready to resurrect my old standby after a long long break. This, of course, means it's time for another of my fairytale congrats. For those of you who have never played one, this is basically a royal congrats with a twist--your couple comes from a fairytale. You can pick and fairytale or folktale you like, any version, from any culture, using any language. Use any source--the Grimms, Perrault, the Arabian Nights, any old folktale or ballad from anywhere in the world. Since a lot of traditional stories have versions all over the world, pick your favorite; you can use any language you want for any fairytale--an Arabic Beauty and the Beast or a Hawaiian Cinderella is just fine. It just has to be a traditional story with a happy couple (or potential couple) at the end. If your story has the couple having children (like some versions of Sleeping Beauty) you'll pick up the story right after the couple marries and continue it in your game.
Note: the fairytale The Little Mermaid cannot be used, as the little mermaid dies in the end of the actual story. Unless you want to focus on the prince and his wife, this is not a happily-ever-after fairytale.
This will be done a little differently than my other fairytale congrats, as this one will have a namebank. Everyone must submit ten female and ten male names in the language they used for the couple's names to create a master namebank everyone will draw from for naming their children. Sometimes there may be additional rules, such as naming a child after someone or using a name from a different language, but the namebank will be the primary source of names.
Extramarital lovers are allowed, and may be same-sex. Non-royal couples are also allowed (for example, you can do Red Riding Hood and the Woodsman).
So, pick a story, name your couple, and away we go!
Rules:
1. Miss three rounds and I'll have to drop you.
2. Each name must come from the namebank unless otherwise specified.
3. Each member of a royal family must have at least two middle names. Non-royals must have at least one.
4. Ages are required. I'll keep up with them.
5. This is a story-driven congrats. If you don't like writing stories for your couples, this may not be the game for you.
6. Have fun!
