Josie is hurting after giving birth so soon after she gave birth to Dannie but she is slowly recovering and has been spending a lot of her time around Magda, who is overwhelmingly kind and takes care of Josie, because Theo has been spending a lot of the last few months in the counsel room - the Dokshainens are one misstep away from declaring war on the Thylosians. Theo has yet to share this with his wife because he doesn't want Josie to become too stressed and grow sicker but he knows if they do declare war he won't be able to hide it from her.
Lan was thrilled that he finally got not one, but two younger brothers, though he's a bit upset that he can't play with them just yet. Riny spends a lot of her time following Lan around, mostly because she doesn't like seeing her Mother lying in bed as often as she does, and what little time she doesn't spend around Lan she spends with Magda's third boy Oskar, who's the same age as her. Dannie spends most of her time asleep or with Josie, Magda and her baby brothers.
Alexandria has yet to return to Dokshaina and feels guilty about the impending war but Theo has been trying to convince her that it isn't her fault and she can stay in Thylos for the rest of her life if she wishes. Her eldest, Charlotte, is more than happy to stay because she has friends a lot of friends here and she knows that her Daddy was mean but the second-youngest, Alberta, misses her Father and doesn't quite understand why they can't go back.
