You've found out something dark about Deacon’s past. What is it and how do you deal with it?

Last week Deacon told me something very hard to take about his past. He was telling me that he lied about where he was born; he really was not born in Massachusetts, but in New York City. He revealed to me that his mom was an exotic dancer to support Deacon and his brothers, Brett and Landon. After awhile, Deacon's mom, Stacy, married a nice guy named Lou and they got married and moved to Massachusetts. Deacon told me that some nights, they would go to bed hungry and cold. Other nights they'd go to bed in a shelter, because they moved so much. I felt terrible when I heard about this, and he knows it's a part of his past that he still gets upset about. He wants nothing more than for his kids to grow up under a sturdy roof with food every night. I know that as his wife we will strive to meet those goals.
