Hi Mike ,
I wonder would you be interested in me making a list over the names used by Shakespeare in his plays for the namesake section?
I must admit that I have begun building one for my own amusement, but then I came to remember that you said:
"I'm open to both historical and mythological lists. I would be very interested in comprehensive lists of characters from a various branches of mythology. But please contact me first so I can give you some guidelines on how to format the list so it can be used by my computer."

And I wondered if you would be interested in the list when it was finished. Shakespeare is of course not religious mythology, but I just wanted to ask you.
I have posted this question on the board instead of sending it to you sínce it may be of general interest if you are interested in lists of names from fictive realms in general.

Excellent idea Selwyn! That would be a perfect addition to the namesakes.
Could you do the format:
NAME + tab + GENDER + tab + PLAY + tab + INFO
NAME is the name of the character
GENDER is either m or f
PLAY is the name of the play the character was featured in. If the same character name is used in more than one play then please put them on separate lines.
INFO is for miscellaneous information you might want to add. In most (or all) cases this can be blank

Not at all how about this (txt)
Each time I finish a part of the list concerning a play I post it here on the board. You then go through the plays you have time for checking if I have forgotten or misspelt someone and adding names of servants and such smaller roles, which I have not gotten hold of.
Would that work you think?
If so it would sure become a well worked through list since four eyes truly see better than two.

Sure, but I'll have to ask Mike C's permission to print out your lists to check them. Someone on campus has been stealing books from both the bookstore and the library, and my dad's old textbook (circa 1946) is one of the books in the Shakespeare collection. I don't want to be arrested at this late of date for something I didn't do.
If and when I get permission, I'M LOCKING MYSELF IN THE LIBRARY. ;)

Why not take a gander at Hamlet (play takes place in your neck of the woods). ;) I'm kinda sidetracked on the kilted play (i.e., the one that you don't even SPELL the title of in front of an actor) and King Lear. Perhaps I should follow the trail over to Romeo and Juliet , hm? ;)

A Note on the offer
What I mean is a list of the names of the main characters in the plays and the possible names they take if they disguise themselves.
So different servants and such who play minor roles will not be mentioned. At least not in this first draft *smiles*
