Different translation of EHUD
The translation of the name as „unity“ is obviously wrong. In this case it would be ECHUD (with the CH pronounced like in Loch Ness), the vocabulary word „echad“ meaning „one“. In fact the name ECHUD appears once in the Old Testament: 1. Chronicles 8,6. But this is a typo. The critical apparatus says: l Ehud (lege Ehud) > read Ehud.
Now what does EHUD mean? The name contains the Hebrew word „hod“ meaning „majesty, splendour, glory“. As “E” is a particle of negation (non-) the translation “without splendour” hs been suggested. But EHUD seems to be a short form of ABIHUD, usually translated “(my) father is glorious” and referred to God.
