Re: Tauba, Doba, etc
Hi, Claire!
But at least you can read Hebrew, and this is something. And how come you know German? Plus Yiddish? Plus French? Plus Spanish? Now it's me who is jealous!
I have a friend who now lives in the States (he is a professor of Modern Jewish thought and has always been a brighty). Together with him I studied (Christian) theology and we made Jewish musik for a number of years with a group. We went to Israel a few times organising student travel groups and working in a kibbutz, which was fun.
Latin I had to study as well plus Greek, and they both help a lot with names even though I'm not very good at either. But just being able to read Greek does help. I can speak French (not very well though), read Italian (with a dictionary) an a bit of Spanish ( with a dictionary and a friend) and that's it. No more bragging!I love Chava Alberstein the singer - you must know her. I once heard the Klezmatics near my home town ant it was just gorgeous! I have a nice litte collection of Jewish music but most of it is old stuff.
What is your favourite?Andy ;—)
