First off, I LOVE MY NAME! I feel it's classy and can't go out of style. Anyway, my mom is from Spain and my fatheris Cuban and I wanted to shed some light on this name in case this has not been manetioned perviouslyl. Did some of you know many girls named Elizabeth are nicknamed Ely. Now the funny thing is...it's pronounced "Ellie," like Ellie Mae.
I've spoken to lots of gals who have been called this all their lives. I used to think it was cute, but now prefer ELizabeth. To this day, I know if it's a family member calling work becuase they let Ely slip instead of Elizabeth or Liz.

Anyway, don't forget that Elizabeth (and all the variations) has a hebrew origin (Eli-sheba).

In Spanish, the correct form of the name is Elisabet (it is used Elisabeth too because of some old Biblical versions and because of foreigner influence in the popularity of the name), but not Elizabeth (or Elizabet) which is an English form (among others). If Elizabet(h) tries to be a Spanish form, it is simply a misspelling.
