Neil: Its derivation is disputed, and it may mean “cloud”, “passionate”, or perhaps “champion”.
I accept that, and what I would like to know is how each alleged meaning was derived. Do you have any idea what the roots might be?
I'd also like to know if Neil and Niall are pronounced the same, or if Niall is pronounced more phonetically (Knee, with stress on the All).
ETA: I would like to know the correct pronunciation and meaning for the name Laise. I've only been able to find it on one site, so I'm not comfortable with accepting what it says just yet:
Means: Flame
Pronounced: Lash Uh
