Re: Neil/Niall + Laise
Niall is usually pronounced Nile, as opposed to Neel, though I do have one friend who is Niall, prn Neel. I live in Ireland by the way.ETA Is Laise Irish as well? I have never heard it. The Irish for flame is lasair. I have seen Lasara and Lasair for a girl and of course there is Lasairfhiona(Lass-ar-eena), meaning flame of wine, none of which are common. There is a word lasadh which might be linked to Laise http://www.irishdictionary.ie/dictionary?language=irish&word=lasadh. Doesn't mean it's a legit name though.

Laise is supposed to be Scots Gaelic, according to a list on NameGeeks (a site I've never used before yesterday, which is why I was looking for verification on it). Thanks for the pronunciation. You wouldn't happen to know if the Scandinavian spelling (Njal) was pronounced the same way, would you? =)
