To whom it may concern (ie, most of the regulars and a few others who will know who you are):

My mother lost her battle with cancer yesterday (Saturday) at 11:30 am CDT (local time.) Since she was raised Orthodox Jewish, we (some of the family) are going to be sitting shiva (a Jewish wake is the only way I can describe it), so I shan't be reading or posting for at least a week. Just a "heads up".
