I have found something interesting on a French website. Apparently the Talmud names
Mary Magdalene "Megadela" or "Megdelet", which means "hairdresser".
I've just asked my mom about
Mary (the mom of
Jesus). She says the Talmud calls her
Miriam the hairdresser. She also says that in Middle Ages
France she was sometimes referred to (by Christians) as "
Marie la coiffière" (
Marie the hairdresser). "Coiffière" could also be someone who makes "coiffes" (headress) or wigs, like observant Jewish women wear when they're married.
