Re: Misspelled Name

I think she is trying to say it looks made up.
The only thing that stands out to me is that wyf is the Old English word for "wife".

Ergo " Buliwyf " = " Cow "?
If it's a male name, one who bullies his wife. If it's a female name, a wife who does the bullying. QED.
On third thoughts, bully used to be a term of approbation - that's a bully idea etc - but died out in the 19th century I think.
Perhaps a thoroughly splendid wife??

Hand me the paper bag
Could also mean "bulimic" wife.
(From *bulimia nervosa*, an emotional disorder (occurring chiefly in young women) in which ‘binges’ of extreme overeating alternate with depression and self-induced vomiting, purging, or fasting, and there is a persistent over-concern with body shape and weight).

Thank you everyone, I appreciate your inputs and what the name might stand for. Decision.... if I have a boy I don't think I want
him to represent that name. But the name sounded neat in its own weird way. If you see the movie (13th Warrior) check out
the character, I thought the name in some way represented the character. Again thanks and take care. B

I do have to admit...
Buliwyf was about the coolest character in that movie (altho I like his films, Banderas is too much a pretty boy to be hanging out with real Vikings). Too bad he (Buli) "bought the farm" in the end.
