I grew up with an annoying boy named Raymond, and I've known more than a few Raymonds that went by Ray that were less than stellar gentlemen. :-/ But I also know a sweet little boy named Raymond now, and it was also the name of a sweet elderly man I knew. I like it, but I'm not crazy about Ray (though it's growing on me more, thanks to Array :b). Raymond John isn't bad--actually the little boy I know, his little brother is John nn Jack--but I'm not crazy about John as a mn in general. It sounds out of place and abrupt to me for some reason (maybe because it's so common as a fn?).

I'm not crazy about the name Raymond, but I do like Ray, so overall I like it.

I love the name Ray, and Raymond is one of my favourite "full names" for it to be a nickname for, although I prefer Ramon or Ramón. Raymond John has a good flow.

I like Ray, and also despise nns as given names, so although I don't really like Raymond on its own, I would like this as a given name with Ray as a nn. I also do not like John just because it is really common around where I am from still and I have a few bad associations with it. And I am also a fan of more eccentric mns, so that is another reason I don't like it a lot. But if I heard someone with that name I would think it was alright!!

I really dont like Raymond John. Partly because I really LOATHE John. However, I really adore Raymond for some odd reason. One of those classics I feel like that come back every now and then. I also think of Everybody Loves Raymond (TV show) - not necessarly a bad thing, even those the character isnt the greatest connection.
