WDYT of Poppy?
Too bizzare? Does the fact that some children call their Grandfathers Poppy confuse the issue?
I like it for a little girl, but I'm unsure... opinions please.

It might be cute for a little girl, but I'm not sure that it ages well. I might be a bit biased against it because I once read a mystery story with a girl named Poppy in it and she was incredibly stupid, so I associate the name with ditziness.
I like Poppy but would most likely never use it. My biggest qualm with the name is that it feels too cutesy for my taste. The fact that some kids might call their grandfathers poppy doesn't bother me at all.

It makes me think of a grandfather. :)

My mom called her grandfather Poppy. He died in a tragic accident before I was born and I've thought of using Poppy just to honor him. I've heard so many wonderful stories about him and would love to be able to pass his memory on through the years.
Even without wanting to use it for that reason I still love the name. I'm a sucker for the more unusual.
I went back and read where some can't see it on a grown woman. I'm the opposite...I see it best on an adult. But that could be because of the t.v. show "Without A Trace" since one of the actors has the name Poppy.

Love it!
I dont call my grandfather Pop or Poppy etc. I think its weird and odd, I always call my Grandfather or ocassionally Grandpa.
Poppy is gorgeous and much more unused than Jasmine, Rose, Lily etc.

I have a friend with this name, I think it's quite nice, but that could just be because of her.
She's 17 and I don't have any problems with how well it ages; why should Lily age well and Poppy not?

Love it as a nickname for Penelope. So cute!
I think it's awful. It's just so silly sounding, even for a child imo. And it's too close to poopy imho. Love the flower, but as a name I don't think it's good at all.
I like it as a nickname for Penelope, but it's too childish for an adult.
Yes, the fact that it sounds like something a little ,id might call his grandfathers is a definite factor as to why I dislike the name Poppy. (I also don't like the names Nan and Nana for almost the same reason.)
But to me Poppy just sounds babyish. It might be cute on a little girl, but it really doesn't suit a grown woman, or evena teenager.

Someday she could be Grandma Poppy. ??
It's an adorable nickname, though.

I dislike this name. I don't understand its appeal. I think that the Grandfather thing might be an issue as well.

Cute, but I can't see it aging well.
