Some Chinese names I quite like
My husband is Malaysian, ethnic Chinese. I would probably give my future child a Chinese middle name and just wanted to know your opinions on these. I know there are certain things taken into account when giving a Chinese name, the horoscope, ancestors and making the name different. These aren't that important to me (and Vince couldn't care less), what is more important is the name linking to his or her heritage and the sound of the name. Jia Li (jee-ah lee)
Jiang Li (jee-awng lee)
Li Ming (lee ming)
Li Mei (lee may)
Lin (leen)
Mei Fen (may fen) plum fragrance
Ming Yue (ming yoo-eh) bright moon
Yue Yan (yoo-eh yahn) happy and beautifulSheng (sheng) sage (I think this has different meanings depending on the character used)
Yuen (yoo-en) journey
Lei (lay) thunderFor a boy we would almost certainly use Sheng because I would like to honour my very good friend.
I have included pronunciation and meaning in case they aren't in the BtN database. I'll edit and change the message if they are. Edited to do this.
