My best friend in Ireland, Maeve, has an older sister named Colleen and I also know of two other people who live there named Colleen. It is used, though not common.

Fair enough. I remember another poster a while back who named her daughter Colleen, and whose Irish grandparents kept asking her "when she was going to give the colleen a real name?"!

I remember that post, and I think it may have been a bit of an exaggeration on the part of the poster- maybe they said it as a joke, or something? I also know more than one Irish person named Colleen. There's also the singer Colleen Nolan, from the Nolan Sisters, who is Irish.

Just to clarify...I just re-read my post, and it sounds like I'm trying to be argumentative with you, Chrisell. I'm not, I'm just agreeing with what Aine said!
