Irish Names (rather quick)

What are your favorite Irish names?Also, what do you think of Keeva and Sinead?Do you prefer Sinead to Siobhan?

I don't like Keeva or Caoimhe. It just doesn't appeal to me. I think Sinead is very pretty, though. I'd use it. I prefer it to Siobhan.My favorite Irish names are Aine, Aislin, Saoirse, Eamon, Finnian, Kieran, and Moira.

Niamh, Sinead and Aoife are my top Irish names for a girl. Desmond, Cormac and Malachy are top for boys.Keeva / Caoimhe is new to me, but its stock is rising quickly. Sinead is sublime. Siobhan is terrific too.

I know a girl name Siobhan, but they call her "Bonjie." I think it's kind of cute.
My favorite Irish name for a girl is Aidan and for a boy I like Keegan.

I like ColleenIt says on this website that colleen is english. last time i checked it ment little irish girl.

Yes, colleen is an Irish *word* meaning "little girl". Colleen is used as a name in English-speaking countries other than Ireland, but not *in* Ireland because it's a word there.

My best friend in Ireland, Maeve, has an older sister named Colleen and I also know of two other people who live there named Colleen. It is used, though not common.

Fair enough. I remember another poster a while back who named her daughter Colleen, and whose Irish grandparents kept asking her "when she was going to give the colleen a real name?"!

I remember that post, and I think it may have been a bit of an exaggeration on the part of the poster- maybe they said it as a joke, or something? I also know more than one Irish person named Colleen. There's also the singer Colleen Nolan, from the Nolan Sisters, who is Irish.

I love both Eileen and Cathleen. I prefer Eileen because it is less common, but both are wonderful.
