Going, and I think it's completely awesome. I personally wouldn't use it as a first name but I think it's one of those really cool last names. Ditto that for a friend of mine whose is Fair; I think the name has a beautiful sound to it, meaning aside or taken into account, and that it would actually make a very nice first name.
Speaking of being awesome I think my surname is, too, even though it's not a gerund. :-P I had thought for ages that I'd give a child my last name as a first name, but I'm
far more inclined to pass along my last name as part of its
last name, so it would be exceedingly redundant.
