Pronounciation for the general american public is not my concern. Most people on this board know that. I'm Irish. Pronounciation and spelling are not an issue. Anglecizing Irish names on the other hand, is an issue for me as I believe the meaning of the name, and the history of the name are lost.

There is no letter "v" in Gaelic. In this case the "mh" combination makes the "v" sound.
