Re: Chartreuse and other color names

I'd use Sienna or Russet in real life. I think Blue, Cameo, Cyan, Indigo, Ivory, Mauve, Sepia, and Teal could be acceptable modern names, if you only think about their sound.
I once read a book with a character named Cerise, which I like. I also think Alizarin, Celadon, and Viridian would make good fantasy names.
I knew a girl named Blue in college. She occasionally had people sing "Am I Blue?" at her. But her roommate was a Maria, and she got most of the serenading.

I've known a girl named Cameo.
Oh, how cool! Did you know her well enough to learn how she got her name? And did she go by Cameo or a nickname?
I knew her pretty well but never asked her how she got her name *slaps forehead*. She just went by Cameo.
That's really interesting actually. Did she happen to ever tell you why she was named that?
Not me in particular. She lived on my dorm floor, and I'm sure others asked, but I don't remember that there was an interesting story behind it.
