What names do you think are only suitable as a middle name?
For example, I think Love is a horrible first name but could work as a middle name.

I hesitate to use the term "appropriate", but there are some names that I'm more comfortable with in the middle.i don't think they MUST be middle names only, it's not a hard limit.
Mega popular names from my generation are so boring to me out front, but in the middle they feel like a warm hug. Stuff like Amanda, Michael, Christopher, Jennifer, etc.
More daring names that might be harder to pull off feel safer in the middle. Also, names that don't "nickname" well. Things like Petal, Orchid, Ripley, Posie, Chalice, Sparrow, Goretti, Samhain, Toussaint, etc.

That makes a lot of sense! I can see how more common names can make a less common first name seem more charming.
Some names I think are great but just don’t give “first name energy”:

Edwina
Maude

Virgil
August
Benjamin
Names I’m on the border about:
Josephine

Marguerite
Bernadette
Eleanor
Elizabeth
Olympia
Rosamund
Primrose
Isaac

Wow, interesting! There are a lot of classics on here.
Maybe Ty.
Oh, yes, short names like that work great for middle names but seem inadequate for first names.
Im actually of the opposite opinion haha. I think short names look weird/pointless in the middle position and flow better as first names.
Interesting!
None! Any name I'd use as a middle name is also usable as a first name.
