Urania
Urania was given (in a throwaway moment) as the name of a minor character in the Henry James novel I'm reading, and I think I love it! I'm obviously aware of all of the negative/distracting associations but am not bothered by them. I also prefer this to the original Ourania, which sounds too much like a toponym or demonym to me (like Iranian), and enjoy the nickname Rainy. Does anyone else appreciate Urania's oddball glamor? Some combos, duh:Urania Maud(e)
Urania Helen
Urania Clemence
Urania Sibyl
Urania Constance
Urania Florence
Urania Alice
Urania Lilith
Urania Phoebe
Urania Laure
Urania Blythe
Urania Beatrice/Beatrix
Urania Agnes
Urania Gladys
Urania Phyllis
Urania Sylvie

I like Urania, because of its associations with Greek mythology. Urania Maude is perfect for, since Maude, a female warrior name balances the softness of Urania, making this combination of names as good and balanced.
So beautiful. Ethereal and glamorous. Jewel tones and otherworldly regalness. 🤭 I actually don't know if I prefer Urania or Ourania. Maybe I just like them both. Ourania sounds stronger and warrior-like and Urania sounds softer and more feminine.I think Rainey dulls the strikingness of Urania. Urania Sybil is actually breathtaking. Hit the nail on the head. As a long time lover of Sybil, I find it almost impossible to pair it but THIS, this is perfection. Anyway, thanks for the new name love. 🥰
Thank you for your appreciation (and for looking beyond the obvious negative associations)!
I don't personally think it sounds like urine or urinal if that's what you mean! They sound very different to me.
It does have a certain grandiosity fitting for the goddess of astronomy. I put it on par with the likes of Titania and Hippolyta; too grand for the likes of mortal men, but beautiful to look at.
Perfectly put
Uranium and urinal come to mind.
I can appreciate Urania, partially due to its connections with Greek mythology. My favourite combos would be Urania Beatrix and Urania Phoebe.
Not a fan. Urania Sibyl is my favourite combo.
Sorry, sounds terrible
No, it sounds like urine, urinal.
