Which mid-20th century name do you wish would come back?
From what I understand, names that were popular in the mid-20th century are now considered grandparents' names. So which of these names would you like to see make a comeback?
Replies
Mary is a classic, timeless and underrated
Nancy is already gaining popularity
Cynthia - as a child this was my (red haired) Barbie doll’s name. To this day I still love it.
I secretly love the nickname Pam. You’d want to be friends with a Pam. I can’t see it coming back though.
Kathleen is lovely (although not my style). I think this would be my number one contender.
Denise - Another name I have loved as long as I can remember. I might use it one day especially as I know that my grandfather loved it too.
Scott is a modern classic imo
Lawrence is another name I absolutely love, but I think I want to keep to myself and not share it

Mary underrated? Mary was the most popular name for a whole century and I still meet tons of Marys my age (I'm 20).
I wonder if Mary is used more in some areas and less in others? I live in a remarkably Mary-free zone. I can only think of one that I've met in my life!
I do happen to know it's used the most in the Southern US. I live in Minnesota and it's not super unpopular here either.
From a book I have, which lists the top 50 names in the UK in 1950:

Pamela
Jean, and Jane
Sheila
