Not really. I can see that using Fanny as a nn for Frances, or for any other purpose, would be unsuitable in today's world, but I don't think Frances (which I like) needs a nn anyway.

No. I don't like Frances or Francine, and Fran just feels even frumpier and dowdier than they are.
It's alright. Fran is better than Jan, Pat, Madge, or Jo, IMO. I even like it more than Ann and Joan.
It's kinda the same vibe as Eddie for Edna, Lou for Louise, Dot for Dorothy, Sal for Sally, Barb for Barbara.
