Marion or Marian?
They sound pretty much the same, but at this time I'm leaning more towards Marian. Anyone else?Lilypie Next Birthday Ticker

Marian, definitely. I just got done reading a book about Maid Marian, so I'm perhaps a bit biased right now, haha.

MarianI used to prefer Marion, but my allegiance has changed, lol. Now I think the 'a' looks prettier but I still love both.If I used the name myself, I think I'd go Latinate with Mariana._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

MarionI prefer Marion, overhere they're pronounced differently. Marian always reminds me of Robin Hood :)

Marian all the way. Marion is matronly looking and unhip even to me, but Marian's gorgeous and classy and all things good. You can show her Robin Hood and The Music Man when she's little. :) Array (mad about Marian)

I'm with you on that. I like Marian... mainly because I find the spelling preferable to be honest.

Marion is what I'd use either way.

So happens my paternal grandmother's name was Marion. I have never known if her parents chose that spelling deliberately. My younger sister Leah has the mn Marion for our grandmother. If I were to use the name for one of my kids, I would use the O spelling because of family. But family influence aside, I do prefer the A spelling on a girl.~Lillian~

I disagree. I'd use Marion for a girl and Marian for a boy!I know a man Marian and a female Marion so I'm biased though! ----Betsy-----
